Video Contest 2021
Simply beautiful - 3 min 07 sec

Regarding my entry,
Like all these years since 2013, I can’t stop myself, I have to share my thoughts about my ninth contest composition.

Someone said ”Every music piece has beauty but not everyone can hear it because we hear different”.
Well, in this composition I concentrate on the ”flow” ( and modulations ). I’m putting in just as much as I can (small fast notes between), without sacrificing this slow nice ”flow”. I have learned that it’s better to play some common chords with flow (Jordan Rudess) than attempting difficult chords (13th) that slow me down with my bad fingers now. This is the result, my ninth entry with key changes, modulations, several times and most in the third, last part ( someone said ”a piece derives its true beauty from the subtle fabric of its modulation”).
When I listened afterwards to my playing, I was smiling and thought, this could be ”my Chilly Gonzales Gogol-piece” from Selected Pearls Vol.1 by Pianoteqenthusiast, the first Solo Piano album. (Well, It might sound like some kind of wild fantasy, but it’s just a pleasant thought of an unlikely situation
I hope you enjoy my little ”Simply beautiful”, recorded with headphones, The Prestige Series Grado Labs SR 80i. I suggest you listen with headphones in this piece.

And despite the fact, that I participate nine times is not that interesting, but I hope that my music is

All the best to everyone with the Pianoteq contest, never give up,

Stig

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

This piece explores semi-random composition using Modartt's modeled instruments and VCV Rack. All notes are produced by two random note generators in A minor pentatonic. Some notes are repeated using both manual and probabilistic locks, to create a mix of randomness and predictability. A new and unique song is created each time the piece is performed, and this video captures one of these creations.

Entry: Allegro from the 3rd movement, sonata in Eb K282

Took me absolutely ages to learn this, too embarrassed to think about it but this is I think my best version.

Hope you enjoy.

Beethoven
Piano Sonata No.21 in C major (Op.53) "Waldstein"

This year again I tried to prepare a midi file from Beethoven's Piano Sonata with an older version of SONAR (Cakewalk) software.
Same as last year, the video might be too long for contest entry but I still think that all three movements of the sonata make one piece of music.

I thank all of you for listening to or watching my content and I hope you enjoy it.

A bit jazzy 19-tone arrangement of the well-known tune.

I believe that Pianoteq's microtonal capabilities are still underappreciated, even though it's one of the few pioneers supporting microtonality who don't sound like a toy - so I'm hoping to encourage you pianoteqers to tinker with microtonal temperaments.

Thanks for this contest and all the best to all participants!

Hi,
Here is  the link to the you tube video of my performance of "TIDES", a piano piece I wrote last week. I use Pianoteq7 STAGE all the time when composing. The richness of sound and the variety of piano types gives me lots of scope for new and interesting compositions. I often add more instruments when building an orchestral piece in Logic Pro but I find Pianoteq is the first instrument I use for basic ideas and for improvisation and inspiration.

The Family we Chose (La Familia que Elegimos in spanish) is a song composed by me that tries to stand out the importance of friendship. The friends share their happiness, their advices, they are loyal and always give us their support in difficult moments. This version is an arrangement of the song for piano, strings and voice. The piano used is the NY Steinway (the pop preset) and the scenery shown in the video are some of my favorite places of my country, Peru. Thanks to Modartt for the opportunity and I hope you to enjoy the song!

Many years ago I had the honor of getting to know the artist Philip Stapp, who gave me a twenty-three-foot long scroll of a visual fugue in three voices.  I have made a video of this scroll, and accompanied it with Nikolai Kapustin's Prelude & Fugue in e minor, op. 82, no. 10.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

here's my entry in this year's contest.  all the videos/recordings i make are done with Pianoteq, but most of them don't actually reveal that.  this tune is a folky/coffeehouse-type tune a wrote a few years ago but never published as a video.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

My submission is the beautiful piece "Dagdraumur" by Icelandic contemporary classical composer Eydís Evensen. I took up the piano when COVID hit as no doubt a lot of other adult learners did and started semi-regularly posting to YouTube around the 1 year mark - mainly to help me work through performance anxiety - I can't believe I'm actually putting something in a competition.

I used NY Steinway D - Gentle to render out the audio as it was a bit more forgiving on a beginner in terms of managing the sustain in the piece. Shout out to my music teacher, Julia Kourtidis, for kindly preparing the score by ear for me to learn this lovely piece.

My Recording is made in OBS with Logitech Streamcam, Voicemeeter potato virtual mixer and Korg EC-310 piano.
I am playing Beethoven op. 14 no. 2 sonata.
I  have Pianoteq 7 Standard and I am playing on C. Bechstein DG D. 282.
I think this piano sounds wonderful with classical music.

For years I avoided playing this piece, because all my piano teachers had heard it too often and didn't want to hear another student attempting it!  But I'm not having lessons any more, so I can play what I want.  And I think I've managed to come up with a version that's different from what you've heard before.

This is my first Youtube video and the very first video contest entry. The tune is something I’ve with noodling around with for a while, performed on my Cakewalk incarnation of Pianoteq, which is based on a blend of the Hamberg and New York Steinways and a matched EQ to one of my favorite piano samples, so I hope at least you’ll like the timbre and tone...

Ok here's my entry for the Pianoteq Video Contest 2021.

This is me playing Billy Joel's 'Root Beer Rag'

I'm using my favourite preset 'New York Steinway D' on the latest Pianoteq 7 version. I use a Studiologic SL990 Pro MIDI controller, and a CME GPP-3 triple pedal. I'm also using the Waves plugin 'Bass Fingers' which I'm controlling via an AKAI MPK mini MIDI controller. The drums I'm playing are Sonor Essential Force in Piano Black with Zildjian Avedis Cymbals. It was all recorded using a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre audio interface in Logic Pro X.

Do I get bonus points for wearing my Pianoteq T-shirt I wonder?

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

Here is my contribution.

I use the far-going retuning ability of Pianoteq, allowing even tunings not repeating at the octave - in my case the perfect twelve (interval ratio 3/1), divided into 27 equal parts (27edt), a tuning that is very similar to 17edo but emphasizes the number 3 (27 is 3^3).

My controller is a Lumatone, a generalized keyboard with 280 freely programmable keys, programmed here to support the 27-tone tuning.

The piece was originally written for a competition organized by a Swiss cheese organisation, meant as a promotion for the cheese dish raclette. Accordingly, the rhythm is composed of samples of a cork popping out of a wine bottle, wine glasses clinging and the sound of a pepper mill - sounds that you can hear during a typical raclette meal.

The tuning 27edt once was proposed as tuning for Klingon music. So the video could be seen as promotion of raclette in the world of Klingons (a famous extra-terrestrial race in the Star Trek universe), and the keyboard layout an example of how an extra-terrestrial keyboard might look like - in any case emphasizing that raclette can be electronic and futuristic, too!

There are 3 Pianoteq sounds used, harpsichord (Hans Ruckers II), acoustic piano (Steinway B) and e-piano (Vintage Tines MK1). First each voice introduces one of the powers of 3 in the tuning (also present in the rhythm, which is 27/16), an at the end there follows a little free improvisation, as far as I have mastered the Lumatone by now. Which, I admit, could be better - but I hope you enjoy nevertheless.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

One of the things I use Pianoteq for is practicing for playing harpsichord and organ in a small baroque music group.
Sometimes I play along with an mp3 (an IMSLP subscription is useful here).
But it is also fun to play all of the instruments myself, especially with so many great modeled instruments available now.
I also finally migrated my music software from an old 2008 Mac Pro to a Linux laptop, with good results.

This Telemann Trio Sonata (TWV 42:B4), was recorded using only modeled virtual instruments:

OS: Linux (Pop OS! 21.04)
Audio production: Reaper
Tuning: 415 hz, Werckmesiter III
Harpsichord: Pianoteq (H. Ruckers II Harpsichord, settings: https://forum.modartt.com//file/94a2leeu)
Organ: Organteq
Flute: SWAM with Tec BBC2 breath controller (running under Wine Windows emulation)
Cello: SWAM (running under Wine Windows emulation)
Reverb: Free Dragonfly Hall
Keyboard: Dexibell Vivo S9 with expression pedal

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

Here is my entry for this year. "When She Loved Me" from Disney's Toy Story 2, written by Randy Newman and originally sung by Sarah McLachlan.

I was captivated by its beautiful melody and mesmerizing series of chord progressions. I tried to explore some subtle variations in chord colour throughout the song, with each successive repeated melodic lines. Through the process I have grown to love this song even more.

Piano used is Pianoteq 7.3, Blüthner Model One preset. I increased the dynamic range to 48 and set the "Piano Condition" slider a bit to the right. After many years and many excellent piano models, the Blüthner is still my favourite.

Thank you sincerely Modartt for your great products and for the opportunity to participate. Best wishes to all contestants!

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

And here is my entry. A very simple piece, with a tiny bit of sophistication in the arrangement. I find that the Gotrian Intimate is the perfect instrument for this crisp music, which should be played perfectly like most of Mozart. Clearly my playing isn't perfect at all, but hopefully I brought enough of his spirit into it.
To increase the realism of the sound, I increased a bit some action noises and aged the condition of the tuning just a bit.

Hi All,

Excited to share my entry to this contest! There are so many great videos already posted.

https://youtu.be/ovvecFH65ck

I came up with this jazzy improvisation after several takes over the last couple of days. I tried to do something creative with the interface, blending it into the background of the video while also highlighting the light-up keys.

I used Pianoteq 7.4.1 Standard, a modified version of the NY Steinway D Warm Preset, Waves H-Reverb and Izotope Ozone to get the sound, and recorded on my Nord Stage 3 Compact.

Thanks for watching/listening!

Hello everyone!

Here is my entry for the 2021 Pianoteq Video Competition.

Hardware:
Kawai GL30 Aures 2 as a MIDI controller for Pianoteq 7, connected via USB MIDI to my Macbook.

I'm an adult 'returner' to the piano, and have been properly focussing on my playing for a couple of years now. I've recently learnt Nocturne Op.19 No. 2 by F Chopin, which I'm performing here on a variety of Pianoteq instruments. We progress from the 1835 Pleyel, to the 1899 Bechstein and finally to the modern C.Bechstein D282 Concert Grand Piano.

I really enjoyed putting this video together, although playing in front of a camera was quite nerve wracking! They playing isn't perfect with some silly mistakes, but overall I think it's a decent performance.

Salut!  Hi!
"Prince meets Chopin" is my Pianoteq Video Contest 2021 submission.
I used 2 instances of Pianoteq 7:
3 morphing instruments:
Broadwood + MKI + C.Bechstein + Pianoteq 7 effects
and
I. Pleyel Recording preset

and I added some more instruments.

My track was inspired by 3 Chopin compositions. The spirit of Chopin has become "married"
to the spirit of Prince.
The track has 5 parts: Intro, Verse, Interlude, Climax and Outro.

Btw my name on youtube is Damijan Crown, here for this forum  I chose Fryderyk.

Merci / Thanks

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2021 - ENTRIES

Hi all, here is my entry in the Pianoteq Video Contest 2021: https://youtu.be/xU0t1duoquY

Extraterrestrial Blues is in 21/8. In the outer sections, the right hand is playing 6-beat patterns against the left hand's 7-beat patterns that all line up every 42 beats.

I imagine that in some alternate universe the blues is typically played in 21/8 and in 13-limit JI with lots of 6 against 7 polymetric grooves. :) I don't always write stuff this weird, but I had a lot of fun with this one. I hope you enjoy it, and maybe come up with a few extraterrestrial dance moves as you listen.

The tuning is in 13-limit just intonation, with 4 13-limit notes and 4 7-limit notes. You can see an image of how the tuning looks in Pianoteq at 3:15 in this video.

Thank you, Pianoteq creators, for making it so easy to program alternate tunings, as well as all the wonderful ways we can adjust the sound of the piano.

Tuning design, composition, and performance by Stacy Fahrion, using Modartt's Pianoteq 7 & a Nord Piano2.

This is my entry for the video contest. This is a cover of a video game soundtrack from Super Mario Odyssey: Jump Up, Superstar! arranged by Cateen (Hayato Sumino).

I used Steinway B patch on Pianoteq 7, using my Roland FP90X as controller, and post-processed in Logic Pro.

I think my mixing and compression can be improved, but I had fun tweaking around the parameters in Pianoteq to give me the freedom of changing the sound recording parameters after the fact. The difference in output can be quite dramatic indeed, even within the same Steinway B patch.

I'm an italian user of pianoteq pro.
I played this video using a morphed instrument composed of a Schantz fortepiano from 1790 and the Erard from 1912. The keyboard is a Roland alpha II from an HP203 digital piano.
The composer is Andrea Luchesi, an italian composer from the second part of 17th century and the sonata has been published on 1772.
