Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - instructions

Is it for video of any forms?

For example:

1. A video that shows 1 sound for an entire music piece
2. A video that compares an excerpt for several piano sounds
3. A video that shows the different useful features in Pianoteq 8
4. A demo session, be it 10 minutes to an hour, like how Simeon Amburgey on YouTube does it?

so any one form of the above is suitable?

First, thanks to Modartt for launching this fun event, putting money into it, and generously so.

That said, it looks like the demise of twitter did not teach us to avoid putting all the eggs in one basket eh? Why YouTube only? Yes, YT is the market leader today (like twitter was yesterday in their sector), and pianoteq has already a big presence there. In fact, there are so many alternatives (Vimeo, TikTok, the dying Twitter itself, Facebook, Soundcloud -- okay the latter is not "video" but arguably the best platform for music -- and many others).

Why not allowing artists to use the platform of their choice? So to me it looks like a win-win.

1) every artist could post where they please (perhaps among a limited number of approved alternatives, like my list above). Why? For example, I have some (modest) original compositions, but I will *NEVER* post them on YouTube with their *HORRIBLE* copyright policies. On YT I would post only classical compositions of centuries ago.

2) it would showcase Pianoteq in places where it is currently not present, and perhaps that advertisement would create views and sales which may not happened if limited on YouTube only.

I suspect most people would use YouTube anyway, so it's not that the Pianoteq presence there would decrease significantly.

That said, I thank again Modartt for the opportunity.

I'm not Niclas, but in my opinion, these are all fair game as long as they respect the original rules.

Regarding Simeon Amburgey, apparently Phil Best submitted one of his videos at some point and won. I don't know what the story is between Phil Best and Modartt, but I think that's hilarious.

Not a bad idea. It will probably take a bit of logistics to figure out how to hold the contest across different services, but it may be worth it in the end for the increased exposure.

Yes, it's there in the 2013 link, under the "You may find some inspiration from previous contests" list. Back then, both Phil and Modartt were not as famous as they are today, so that made sense. I think that in 2022 a simple review like that would not get a chance to be in the top three, but who knows?

Let's see what they say when day comes in France in a few hours.

Yes, any of the above is fine, although an hour may add a bit too much work load on the jury...

His playing was pretty great in that review, though.
