Aahh that's a real pity - your entry was quite amazing, and you showed possibilities with PianoTeq and Modartt that I would never have imagined or thought possible! I think there would be many contemporary composers who would love to do exactly this type of thing e.g. in a film score or similar.

Hi! Below my entry for the contest. I'm a guitar player and now learning to play the piano.

I always dreamed of having my own Fender Rhodes or Wurlitzer electric piano, but could never afford one. So I build my own virtual electric piano. I bought a second hand MIDI keyboard (StudioLogic SL73) with weighted keys that feels like a piano keyboard. A removed the metal housing from the keyboard.

For software a found the terrific Modartt Pianoteq 8 software, which runs very nice on a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) (and on my laptop). It needs a good quality audio output, so I bought a Pisound soundcard which also has a MIDI in connection for the keyboard.

I made external connections on the back for power, HDMI display, stereo audio output, USB, a MIDI output (to use the keyboard with other gear) and a food pedal. On the front I also made a headphone output and a power button.

A wanted to choose from 8 instruments, with 8 presets for each instruments from the front of the piano, so I designed a frontpanel myself and made a MIDI-interface with an Arduino Nano which is connected to the USB of the Raspberry Pi. I also added a volume knob and a knob to change the condition of the piano. With this knob you can slowly detune the piano and make the piano sound old. 

If I want the modify the Pianoteq software, I simply connect a portable display and a wireless USB-keyboard to it.

I use a Marshall Woburn II speaker and it sounds fantastic.

Hello everyone, I share you my entry for Modartt contest of this year. I wrote this song for a play. This is a version with piano and my voice only. The lyrics are in Spanish and it tell us about the importance of doing good things without thinking to who, being kind and making other people to smile. Today I am presenting my entry for the Modartt Video Contest 2023. I present the prelude to the chorale "Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir" by Otto Dienel:

Otto Dienel was born on January 11, 1839 and died on March 10, 1905. He was a German organist and composer. Otto Dienel studied at the Royal Institute for Church Music from 1863 to 1867 and at the Berlin Academy of Arts from 1864. He took up his first post as organist in 1865 at St. Bartholomew's Church in Berlin-Friedrichshain and later moved to the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In 1869, Otto Dienel was awarded the silver medal of the Royal Academy of Arts and was appointed organist at St. Mary's Church in Berlin-Mitte. He kept this position until his death and was appointed director of music there in 1881. Dienel was a connoisseur of Johann Sebastian Bach's music and an outstanding improviser on the organ. Several study trips, including to London (1871 and 1885), Italy (1874) and Paris (1878), shaped his compositional style. In 1898 he was made an honorary member of the American Guild of Organists for his complete works.Otto Dienel composed around 600 works during his lifetime, but only around a quarter of them have survived in print. Many of the manuscripts were burnt during the Second World War, while others are in the family's possession. The largest number of his works are organ compositions. (Info from Wikipedia)

Prelude:
Otto Dienel composed "43 chorale preludes for organ for use in church services Op. 52". I have recorded the prelude to the hymn "Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir" from this collection. The text of the hymn was written by Martin Luther and printed in 1524. In its early use in church services, the hymn was primarily a funeral song. In the later tradition, it was a special hymn for the Day of Prayer and Repentance. The hymn was printed with different melodies in the first editions. In Präludium Op. 52, Otto Dienel used the melody by Wolfgang Dachstein (1487 - 1553). The technical performance of the prelude is not difficult for organists.

Organteq 2
I used Organteq 2 for the video. I was very pleased with the important improvements in this software.

In this interpretation, a person is presented who makes a request to God with great courtesy and humility. I have therefore used the following delicate setting of the stops for the prelude:

Getting some great ideas from the entries!  I've been working on something but I think I was overly ambitious and not sure I'm going to get anything done in time this time this year.  I'm still trying to wrap up my basic idea tonight and I've never actually filmed a screen capture before.  Still need to figure that out then edit it.  I used to have Adobe After Effects subscription but don't think I have one right now so have to figure out a new way to edit or re-up.  No real need to post this except I feel kind of accountable after saying I'd need Pianoteq 8 to enter and then figuring out the upgrade is cheap, etc, and got Pianoteq 8, and was talking like I planned to enter.  I might post my idea after the contest and then do something new for contest next year.  Good luck all!

This is my entry for the Pianoteq contest this year. It is called Prayer for Peace. A musical setting of the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi by Benjamin Harlan. I still remembered playing the piano accompaniment for a pretty big choir more than 20 years ago. It's a composition I made, I started with a simple theme and the result is quite condensed because I wanted to publish this theme for the contest and also have a coherent ending. A little challenging, few hesitations but at least I proposed something this year

It is a two-piano version of Chick Corea's and Return to Forever's track Señor Mouse. I used a Bechstein for the lower part and a NY Steinway for the upper one, which I slightly panned left and right.
I am working on a version of the track with my band so I took the chance to perform this all piano version also to work on the solo part, which I improvised.

This small piano piece I have composed especially for Pianoteq Contest 2023. Few days of crazy work with a great instrument.

My humble and usual last minute entry for this year which required far more work than I had anticipated despite its semplicity. I sequenced the Andante con moto of Beethoven Fourth Piano Concerto using the Grotrian and different strings libraries to recreate the wonderful dialogue of this movement.
