You play so beautifully and with a naturalness that I find very appealing, fascinating.
And you are so expressive! It seems like you deeply connect with every single note you play. Well done as always.

I am a piano lover restarting playing piano about two years ago after a long long blank period.

This is my ordinary video, meaning it contains only keyboard and my hands, so I don’t know if you have any interest in it, but still I believe you can see the beauty of Pianoteq.

I usually play Bach in several instruments like clavichord, harpsichord, fortepiano, modern piano and pipe organ, all of them are provided by Pianoteq except  pipe organ. I’m a big fan of Pianoteq. Thank you.

Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - entries

As you can see I use my foot to play, I only have one arm but that doesn't stop me from much. Also I own pianoteq 7 stage, and I'm trying the 8 Standard demo, it is really cool all of the parameters you can change. It really lets you create your own unique sound.

When you play that good you get a free pass for pretty much anything! Superb articulation and dynamic control, it was a pleasure to listen to from start to finish!

This is my feeble entry to the competition. It's not very good, but I will get better next time as this is the first time I am able to record using Pianoteq after some trial and error over the holidays. I will record the entire Toccata once I can get the sound decent. Filmora screen recording seems to degrade the audio. I will figure it out soon and do better next year.

We present the Allegretto from the Fantasiestücke Opus 22 by Carl Reinecke (1824-1910) to you as contribution to the MODARTT Video Contest 2022.

Carl Reinecke was an important German composer and pianist. He is considered a major composer of the Romantic period. Further information:

We recorded the Allegretto with Pianoteq 8 (HB Steinway Model D) and the clarinet (swam audio modelling) on 30.12.2022.

Not the best playing but just made a quick video for fun!

Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - entries

Here is my humble submission for the contest. A piece called Nowhere, in 31edo. Thank you for listening. ~Stacy Fahrion

https://youtu.be/gHTM3Z-2yD4

For the past few years, most of my compositions have been in just intonation, but this one is in 31 equal divisions of the octave, recorded on a Lumatone. I appreciate not only the sound of Pianoteq, but also how intuitive Pianoteq makes it to experiment with just intonation and microtonality.

This piece grew out of an improvisation that I had to practice in order to repeat. The left hand pattern is 2 + 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 throughout. There's a hint of a 3 against 7 polyrhythm at the beginning, then lots of 2 against 3, and some 4 against 3 in the coda.

I like using notes that are close in tuning in similar phrases, so that once the memory of that pitch has slightly faded, I'll alter one note so that it's close but not quite the same. I did this with the Bb that approximates 16/9 vs. the A# that approximates 7/4 a bit in this piece.

The title is from a poem that I love by Wayne A. Gilbert, published in his wonderful book, Sacred Chill.

Wayne's stunning poem is posted here with his gracious permission:

Nowhere

on the ledge
too narrow to
turn around too
narrow for me
to crouch sit

on my left
straight up
a cliff rises

on my right
straight down
forever

i am here

ahead
the narrow ledge
disappears
around a sharp
corner

what if i live

Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - entries

Hello everyone !

I am very pleased to share another musical opus recorded specially for MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022.

The main keyboard is the same as before (an old CASIO CDP-100) but I am rather satisfied how the touch feels on this MIDI keyboard. But soon I am midifying some old grand piano action and will see how that feels (the work in progress).

This composition is a old theme of mine written "in the table" and collecting the dust there for years. Have improvised it in various ways on my black friend - Schedmayer grand piano. "Steingraeber Warm" preset was used. First I've wanted to add a few other instruments (There is a very good Piano Tampura patch made from NY S&S D) but then I've decided that one is enough. Sorry for some lags on the video - have to upgrade camera for 60fps, 30 or 25 are insufficient for fast movements with low light.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPrp-jKZyLM

I am open for any feedback regarding this piece. Please enjoy !

Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - entries

Hello everyone,

here you find my submission:

https://youtu.be/6mVKhvnoD6E

My goal was to show, what untraditional piano-behaviour Pianoteq 8 is capable of.
Unfortunately it seems that MPE is still not completely supported but with my Joué-Controller it is possible to use single note detune, vibrato and bending.
With these possibilities, I was able to make a short improvisation in "Gig Performer" with one Instance of Pianoteq 8 harp (freezed in Eventides Blackhole) and three instances of Hamburg Steinways:
the 1st instance just for a loud and delayed sustain pedal to form a beat
the 2nd  instance with loud action and a bass-heavy EQ for the bass-accompainment
the 3rd instance with a tape-delay as a "lead"

I hope this shows the versatility and possibilities of pianoteq.

Thanks and all the best!
Simon

I made this short video for the 2022 Pianoteq Video Contest, to show how I'm using Pianoteq and Logic Pro X to compose an eight-hour piece of music based on the birdsongs of Sydney, Australia. All the music you'll hear was created with Pianoteq instruments, and the birdsong field recordings I transcribed for the piece were made by Fred van Gessel. I hope you enjoy listening, and best of luck with the contest!

Re: MODARTT VIDEO CONTEST 2022 - entries

Hi everybody!
Here I am with my entry for this year's contest, in the very last day beacuse it took me some time to mix the track and prepare the video!

I decided to participate with this instrumental song based on piano and bass guitar that we have just finished writing this month, called Space Tunnel.

To follow the different moods in the song I have used four different piano configurations, one for the main core of the song, two more intimate ones for two softer parts and a more dreamy one for the ending. All are morphing or layering of different presets of different piano models.

It was great to experiment with the different possibilities to shape the sound, until I found the tone that in my opinion suits each part best.

Congratulations for all the great entries and best of luck!

Hi, here is my video, I'll be back tomorrow for the comments, quickly, quickly, New Year's Eve.

https://youtu.be/ZWLO49yXYJ8

Edit: (Google translate)
(the YouTube link is valid now, simply the sticker does not appear)

Here is my new participation in the annual Pianoteq competition. In 2017 I promised to no longer participate after 5 consecutive years, place to others. Then two years ago, COVID crisis helping and relatively idle I said to myself "never say" and I was trying to present a video with a piece of Carla Bley and the use of 3D objects to illustrate it.
Except that I had no notion in the field of 3D that I discovered then and despite a hard work I had to face the facts, we do not master this universe in ... a week, crazy that I was (project that was started at that time for this song and is still in the development court, that is to say how naive I was) ..
But from this failed attempt was born a passion for everything related to animation and two years later I felt an attack to reiterate the experience but with a more substantial background. And a new project, increased in Video in a nice universe.
But although I anticipated my participation this time if and undertook my work upstream of the fateful date, I could not go to the end of what I wanted and it is a hastily tinkered version that I gives you. I find it all the same pretty but it is far from finished.
There remains the Pianoteq competition generates a great motivation, the rules of the competition giving a rare extraordinary choice, it is a real invitation to the most unbridled creativity and for that I would like to thank Modartt.

I hope you enjoy the video among other things for the big job she asked. : o)
