Topic: Gymnopedie No 1 with Organteq

When I listened to k c Paul Li's nice playing of Gymnopedie 1, I remembered that I have played it with Organteq too. Interesting with pipe organ sound in this piece.
I tried different tempos, but too slow didn't work so well with Organteq, so this is my choice.

Nice organic approach! But I'm hypnotised now by the pictures....

Thank you, Serge Smulders, for nice comments. Hypnoticed ? Well, it’s kind of modern ambient music, for relaxation, meditation….interesting that it's the pictures and not the music that gets you in that state of mind. May it be both anyway

Yes, it works very well with organ. It gives something more spiritual/meditative (to me).

Hi Serge Smulders.

I really want to listen to your version of Gymnopedie 1 but I can't, I don't have spotify. I have/am logged in to so many many places so I don't need spotify on top of everything, problems sometimes with all the advertising…….
Maybe you could attach it to an e-mail to me? Can comment here of course.

Best wishes,

Stig

Bravo Serge Smulders! I listened to all 3 Gymnopedies and to the Gnossiennes too. You play so beautifully and with a naturalness that I find most musical and appealing. I have to say I am totally blown away by you as an amazing pianist! Now I hear the difference - you the pianist - I’m the amateur

Some thoughts.
Although all the pianosounds are nice, I prefer the soft sound in Gymnopedie.
I like the tempo, some people play it too slow.
Well nuanced in some places and nice ritardando about 1.28 - 1.33 Gymno 1.
For some reason I like Gymno 2 more now. It’s your playing
And Gnossienne 2 is special - it’s like you are thinking before touching the keys, the piano is in your head. Beautifully played piece.

Nice music. Soothing, because I really have hectic days in my life now, and a sense of isolation, of being alone with a huge responsibility as a caregiver for my wife 24/7. But listening to your music and many others in the forum, when I have time, help me to relax.

Thank you so much Serge Smulders. Keep going!

Best,

Stig

Hi Stig, glad you listened and commented in this nice way. It is really too much honour. But I put a lot of effort in it to understand the pieces, also listening to top concert pianists performing the pieces and trying to give some interpretation of my one. Maybe you can hear the effort. Hope everything turns out well for you. For me the Satie pieces also work a bit as medidation. Best, Serge
