Topic: Rimsky-Korsakov - The flight of the bumble bee

Dear friends, listeners,

I have played Bach Brandenburg 3, pieces from Handel Messiah, Albinoni, Dvorak, Grieg, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Beethoven, Elgar, Buxtehude, Saint-Saens,  Rubinstein, Mozart…..and many more all with Organteq, almost 200 pieces, not all uploaded…

And - I have to say, this piece of music was for me the most difficult, not everything got really right, but it should be enough. All I have listened to (organ) play it faster and again as a speed test? I put my tempo so you can follow the bumblebee's flight as I chase it and finally kill it with a bang (the last note)

The piece is from the opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan composed 1899-1900.
The composition is intended to musically evoke the seemingly chaotic and rapidly changing flying pattern of a bumblebee.
With my pupils long ago we watched a cartoon of the opera with the music. The pupils (10 years old) wanted to see it again and again and I was glad, they remember now the composer Korsakov and his music for the rest of their life ( a bit musical general education) I hope you can enjoy my way of playing it with my registration/my using of stops,

Stig, the music lover (as amaryllis kindly said

Good to me, Stig.

When it's too fast, it may loose some musicality, sometimes...

Thank  you Will. It's easy to find performances recorded fast of this piece, but I’m not trying to break a speed record. You are right, it may loose some musicality.
Thank you for listening to my music,

Stig

You are way beyond my skill level, but I think that it would be fantastic to have a buzzy pino for the bee, and the accompaniment in the organ.  Fly and be free!

Thanks for kind comment and the idea with accompaniment in the organ   But didn't understand buzzy pino? ( my English knowledge not enough here

Congratulations Stig! - I do like it very much - you achieve a sound with Organteq which seems your own.

Your former pupils would be proud of you, as all here are, I'm sure. And I hope to know you are basking in your latest triumph

You mentioned taking on this challenge recently (after surmounting so many others which are awesome) and its an inspiration.

Thank you (BTW that's a well fitting nickname given by Amaryllis)

I think 'pino' must be just a typo for 'piano' - unless the bee has fallen into a glass of pinot grigio...

”unless the bee has fallen into a glass of pinot grigio”  This was very fun   As far as I know it is the second most popular white wine in America, so maybe the bee chose that particular glass because of the good smell, instead of receiving the bang from me. Hope she did not drown immediately until she tasted

Re: Rimsky-Korsakov - The flight of the bumble bee

Oh dear!

Not proofreading and that's what I get for running out of the house the other day, only to return today.

Yes, the flies (especially fruit flies) tend to land in my wine, though perhaps more so in my reds than my whites.  And, though I do like a Pino grigio, I am more partial to Sauvignon Blanc, Albarino, and other whites that have a bit more bite.

That being said, 'pino' was indeed a 'typo' as I meant 'piano'.

And, as for the buzziness comment, I only meant to say that for the chromatic ups and downs of the bee's wings sound, I prefer a little more crisp sound that the piano can give rather than the flutes that you used on the organ.  Thus, I thought that here's a perfect chance to blend the bass notes from the organ with the bee's wings notes of the piano...except that Modartt does not yet offer us such cross-species pollination!
