Topic: Hammond??
I would just love to hear a Modartt version of an old b3...we already know they can do an organ well.

Yes, but there is already an excellent modelled B3: https://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=sho...t&b=44

And the best one in my book (until now): Blue 3 by GG-Audio (https://gg-audio.com/blue3.html).
But I'll admit I would love to see Modartt's take on this.

Hammond have some spin components, and I'm not sure if Modartt already modelled algorithms for spining horns.

Yes, but both the VB3 II and the Blue 3 mentioned in another post cannot be used natively within Linux.
It might be nice to have a Modartt alternative, if there exists a large enough market for another B3 emulation, that includes a modeled Leslie rotary speaker effect, with the drawbars, rotary-speed and other classic Hammond organ features MIDI-controllable, using MIDI learn and/or manual MIDI mapping.

The IK Multimedia B3-X is a lot better - check it out there is a free trial.

I've tried all the VSTi Hammonds. I own the B3-X too, which is very good, but, currently my favourite is the Acoustic Samples B-5 which I'd say surpasses the B3-X.
https://www.acousticsamples.net/B5 It's half modelled and half sample-based. Very affordable too.
Getting the Leslie right would be essential for Modartt if they were going to create something comparable to the really good versions out there. Then there's a whole host of other things to make the sound authentic.
i would certainly buy a B3 model from Modartt. i use linux exclusively and would love to have access to an awesome B3.
+1 from another Linux user.
Did any of you tried setbfree?
https://x42-plugins.com/x42/setBfree
Should run on Linux

just tried it last night and it's great ... lots of fun. nevertheless, i'm still curious about what Modartt could do

Yes, SetBfree sounds nice, but could benefit from the user configurability in the interface and included audio/MIDI connectivity of an app like Pianoteq or Organteq. In addition, Modartt might do a superior job of modeling and emulating the sound, features and functions of a Hammond B3 organ with two manuals plus pedals.
The SetBfree standalone app is dependent upon JACK (Jack Audio Connection Kit), and requires the user to understand, configure and independently route the audio and MIDI data and connections through and within JACK.

totally agree. i use Ubuntu-studio so that at least jack is all there ready to go, but i have the annoying problem that my external interface (Komplete Audio 6) is not visible to jack without the alsa 2 jack midibridge. it means i usually use PTQ with alsa.

Good old a2jmidi. I use --
a2jmidid -e &
-- in JACK--> Setup--> Scripting--> Execute script after Startup
(the "on Startup" alternative is sometimes a little premature, to capture and reveal all of the ALSA MIDI ports to JACK)
At least Linux isn't a "black box" OS by proprietary intent; we can lift and poke around under the hood.

Hmmm, not feeling it, tbh. For me VB3 is the bees knees.
Also, I wonder if you could use the Windows version of VB3 under WINE on Linux. It's already done using JUCE, so maybe shooting some e-mails to Guido might make him try some additional compiler targets...

That's an interesting idea!
