Hi Jutzi,
Liking the tones with those mics on Bechstein DG.
Wonder if you could try this first..
Microphone 1
X = +0.408
Y = +2.125
Z = 0.840
Angle = +180.0
Vertical Angle = -90.0
Microphone 2
X = +0.722
Y = +0.980
Z = 0.844
Angle = -180.0
Vertical Angle = -90.0
I made sure of these following also:
a
Select Compensation "Delay" to "On"
b
I also matched each microphone's Left and Right Delays times. (they are different in stock Steinway, iirc 2 timings to alter to match better - you'll need to right click the respective level meters in the interace and see that they're the same - this did bring a little more similarity together).
I feel that it could be closer still in overall 'sense of the space and level' although obviously pianos are different. A little more movement of those mics might be all that you need to do (maybe 'link them' to make moving them together easy, or just move each individually).
In real life, each piano is very different - so, even with very similar microphones, you may need to make more adjustments to get closer to the overall timbre you liked from these mics with the Bechstein.
Really hoping this is close enough to work - but other things to consider beyond mics might include things from output volume (the Steinway was louder with the mics - moving them attenuated) - but also, EQ, lowering "Gain" or main output volume.. adjusting stereo width could make it match a little better - but you'll know what you want to hear. Just like a studio with new piano brought in, it's normal to move microphones a little from known sweet spots to gather some precise tones.
New in Pianoteq is 4 mic arrays AB, MS, ORTF and XY. Trying these, you might find one suited to your needs (they differ in various ways). These load in audience perspective, but linked, you can drag them close - you might find one of these closer to strings might give similar.. or drag them to player perspective, and place one extra microphone at bass end, or under the board perhaps for that wooded texture.
But - hoping the first shot at top there is what you most need.
Cheers Just.
