Thanks Amaryllis, I'm part of the jury again this year - happy to participate in that way.
It's truly my personal joy to see so many others are creating wonderful music with Pianoteq and a genuine pleasure to share in all our discoveries here
I've had a lot of fun listening to all the entries.
-
My entry here is a dark piece, inspired by frustration with world affairs.
I don't mean it to be too dark, I meant it as a reminder that we can and should do better.
Here is my entry playing "Shallow" soundtrack from "A star is born" movie...
Happy to participate after a long time :-)
Hope you like it....
My first time to join this contest. Still a greenhorn with Virtual orchestration, my entry covers John Lennon's Imagine - inspired by with what is happening everywhere.
Ciao a tutti, HI to everyone.
I'm an Italian pianist/songwriter
Enzo Sanfilippo
I composed this song today, inspired by the sound of Pianoteq 6 STD.
I used the YC5 preset whitout ANY MODIFICATION.
Recorded with my phone and OBS to grabbing Pianoteq's window.
Recorded, edited and uploaded just few minutes ago.
This song is titled "Una in più" in enghlish sounds like "one more...".
Hope you like it.

Enzo.
My entry for this year's contest is part of a larger theme and variations piece I've been working on for the last month. Unfortunately, I didn't finish it but I had a lot of fun working on it and made a lot of progress. This variation still needs a little work, but I like the direction it's headed and it stands by itself pretty well. Let me know what you think. Hoping to finish the entire piece for next year's contest.
Good luck to everyone and thanks to Modartt for Pianoteq and the contest!
This music from this video clip that I composed, I interpreted and recorded it with Pianoteq 6 - K2 Studio recording BA.
I filmed with a Sony DSC-RX10 IV.
I did the editing (slow motion) with Adobe Première Pro.
I mentioned Pianoteq 6 in the end title.
Thank you
Daniel

Great sound!
I just ordered the YC5,
Good luck for this contest
Pianoteq 6 has me. From the moment I bought it, 5 months ago, I can't play with any other sampled piano VST. Especially when I discovered Chorus effects, Pianoteq is so alive and expressive, that it only can be compared with an acoustic grand piano. Satie's Gnossienne No 3 is one of my favorites, and I choosed it to participate for my first time to Pianoteq's contest 2020. Enjoy:
Thank you
Sincerely yours

Hello!
This is my entry for the contest.

I happy to show to You my own simple piano piece. Hope You enjoy It
Thank You.
Sincerely Yours, Dmytro Poeta.
It's great to see a good number of entries appearing. I'm looking forward to spending a lazy afternoon viewing them when they're all gathered in.
My entry is inspired by horror film soundtracks of the 60s and 70s. It's my first serious attempt at multi-instrument mixing. All the sounds are from Pianoteq: Qexl's 'Hammer Horrors' Bechstein, a Frankenstein creation of my own (based on the Hohner Clavinet) and a 'straight' Steinway B. Both 'Hammer Horrors' and 'Frankenstein' were tuned to 1/4 comma meantone for an unsettling effect. Minimal extra processing was used: some delay for 'Frankenstein', a tiny bit of EQ on the Steinway, and some very light compression on the master.
Here is my entry for the competition. The Name of Life from the movie Spirited Away, composed by Joe Hisaishi. During the past few months our family watched many Studio Ghibli movies together, and laughed and cried together. Spirited Away is one of my favourites and I love this song so much.
What a moving film with many imaginative, surrealistic elements. I tried to bring a bit of a similar feeling by adding some subtle counter-melodies as inner voices or in the bass line. See if you can identify some of them!
Relax and enjoy!
I use Pianoteq for music in just temperament. Therefore some explanations are necessary at the beginning before Pianoteq comes into play:

Hope you're fine with it...

If we ask- what is musical interpretation? I can’t explain enough with words, only say that here I can hear it, feel it. It’s about expression, emotion. You play so beautifully in this piece. Thank you. I felt things in my heart, sad, but joy too. Because I remember my son. He said, today is not great, tomorrow’s a new chance. Some day are not so good now in my family. But your playing reminded me that we'll get another chance tomorrow. Thank you for taking part in this contest. Wish you all the best.
I did something different to this years competition...
Resurrection Band Tribute medley
I’ve always listen to ”Resurrection Band” or ”Rez Band” or ”Rez”. They have influenced my music and my life in many ways. It’s a bit difficult to do something from their music as a pianist, but this is an attempt on my part to do a tribute medley of their music. Hope you enjoy it!
If you want to listen to the original music, there is a list in the video description on YouTube.
Hi everyone! This is my entry, “léviter” (French for “to levitate”), to appear on my all- Pianoteq upcoming release. It’s based on four motifs that I repeat in a moto perpetuo (perpetual movement) kind of feel. I’ve been working on this tune for many years, changing the order and the number of repetitions…until I settled on this. Recently, I decided to add harmonies, a few of which are delayed in a canon style for more variety and a sense of build-up.
I used a modified Steinway B Player preset for both the main track and the harmony track. I chose it for of its clarity and percussive attack. Obviously, you would need four hands and two pianos to perform this music live, which I can’t wait to do with my partner when public performances are possible again…
Why “léviter”? Maybe it’s about a desire to seek the impossible, or a least to reach a certain spiritual state. The great visual artist M.C. Escher said it best: “Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible…” Enjoy!
EDIT: I increased the volume level which was previously too low.
Hello everyone, I am Jose Perri I am writing to you from Argentina. I tell you that I am totally new to the piano for two years that I have been studying and recently I found PIANOTEQ which drastically improved the sound of my KORG C1, despite my technical limitations with the piano I respectfully want to share with you a musical fragment that I have called Morning Rest (Inspired by all the music I have heard).
Greetings.
Hi to all,
I just finished my piece and the accompanied video for the contest:

I am very moved by your words since I read them this morning. Thank you sincerely. I feel similar feelings (sad and hope) with this song as well. Best wishes to you and your family with great happiness and health, and that things will work out well. All the best to you with the Pianoteq contest as well!
p.s. I will never forget the message of Chloe's dream!
Hi everyone,
I’m Philippe Goirand, living in Toulouse, France and a new member of the forum. Pianoteq Steinway D is my work, composition piano and appears in most of my final mixes. I also like the Ant. Petrof and electric pianos.
My compositions usually associate singing, melodic bass line and piano as first parts. And it’s a pleasure to use a Steinway in a small flat…
I chose a song with french lyrics to participate to the Pianoteq Video Contest 2020. « C’est Rien » is just finalized and piano take a big part in it, specially in the final impro. This song is a mix of all the musics I love : 80s electro, rhythm and blues, chanson française… finally a pop song, I hope. If you come to my soundcloud or my website philippegoirand.com, you can hear a majority of songs with english lyrics and various atmospheres.
Thanks for listening !

Hi Jose, really nice piece ! I will have rest tomorrow thinking of your composition...
Here is my entry for the competition. It is a simple melody created in the moment. Pianoteq is an amazing tool.
Hi, here is my entry for this contest, Franz Liszt Sonetto 104:
I apologize for lighting, I don't have perfect setup and camera for this.

Very nice performance and sound and video ...

I couldn't make it the past 2 years so I'm really happy to join again this time.
I combined many Pianoteq instruments to make some kind of new agey sound. The celesta and steel drum are layering some of the celtic harp notes but have a very strong echo resulting in a couple of new notes here and there. The lowest notes are performed by a piano, a clavichord, space drums and tubular bells to give the bass line a lot of space and resonance!
An arrangement of Norah Jones' "Closest Thing To Crazy", used by permission.
Here's my entry for this year's contest. I wish the best to all those who have entered.
Warmest regards,
Chris
Hi everybody! This is my first post in the forum.
I've been using Pianoteq for around three years now, I really like its sound and how you can tweak it to suit many different styles, it's the only soft synth I use now for piano sounds.
Watching a lot of the great videos you posted here, this year I've finally decided to take part in the Pianoteq Contest! My contribution is a jazz-flavored piano tune I wrote a few months ago, Wasteland Moon. It's got parts with different degrees of dynamics so I thought it was interesting to make a video out of it.
Hope you enjoy it, leave a comment on what you think about it!
Thanks, and keep on making great music!
Fabio
This year entry, one audio take, two Pianoteq

Here is my simple entry to the contest. A variation of Happy Birthday.
I really enjoy using Pianoteq but lack good skills to play without errors.
2020 Pianoteq Competition
(suggested listening mode: headphones)
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my piece. This year I've again tried to push Pianoteq as a composing tool, rather than use it in its more conventional role as an amazing set of physically modeled pianos.
I also set myself the challenge of using a single piano preset (in this case, Grotrian Concert Royal) to create an instrument that sounds more like a percussion instrument than a piano. By tweaking many of the settings (reversed keyboard direction, phasing, delay, EQ, hammer hardness, etc.), I came up with the instrument I'm using here.
To create this piece, I started with a short piano improvisation, which I then subjected to various "insults," including inadvertent corruption (using a trial version of Melodyne), rhythm and scale quantization, and numerous other small changes (using Logic Pro X).
There are many tempo changes (which you can see in the video), and all the rhythmic variations in the piece emerge from the interaction of these tempo changes with Pianoteq's amazing Delay effect. I had to experiment for quite a few hours to find just those tempi that produced the rhythms I've used here.
I've called the piece Latin Rollercoaster - I hope it's not too hard to figure out why. I hope you enjoy it, and good luck to all the other participants!
I made a video introducing Pianoteq with my own performance.
It's mainly in Japanese with machine translation.
The introduction is for non-buyers of Pianoteq.
I'm not very satisfied with the finished product, but it was fun to make it.
And it will be a good experience for me to know how difficult it is to make a video.
Thank you for organizing the PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2020.
I'm posting this as a reminder of how glad I am that I bought Pianoteq 6.
I wrote this song on September 11, 2001 to capture the essence of my emotions on that historic day, knowing it would be a piece that would bring me back to that day like a time machine if ever I felt the need to contemplate how I felt. The song remained only a rough sketch until now. Suddenly, almost two decades later, it found the right project and artist and is being produced with a male vocal as originally intended. This instrumental version highlights the piano accompaniment featuring PianoTeq 6’s Steinway D emulation. For this synth-pop ballad, a couple of virtual piano instruments could’ve worked, but I particularly loved how PianoTeq cut through the rich textures in this pop arrangement with a minimum of processing in the mix; just some slight EQ, optical compression, and reverb was added, in addition to the modifications done within the PianoTeq Steinway D Cinematic preset I used as a starting point.
The full lyrical version of this song is currently being produced and will be released soon (but on the artist’s channel).
Thanks for listening. Any feedback in the comments is highly appreciated!
Here's my simple entry In love with this prelude by Scriabin, opus 11 No. 9
Hello, here's my entry.
Here I play Schubert Sonata in A Major d664 first movement -- in demo mode, imperfectly -- and demonstrate a few of the pianos.
Hello!
Thanks to the Modartt team for the invitation! I would like to contribute my first post, a short improvisation with the Blüthner Model One, 'Home' preset, which I now put together for the video contest. I use Pianoteq as my main Piano for years now.
I play on a Kawai VPC1, default Pianoteq-Velocity-Curve. The movie was made with 'Clips' on an iPhone and Quicktime screen recording on the Mac mini (2012 Quad), which also runs Pianoteq. Assembled in iMovie, audio is directly from Pianoteq, no other editing.
Thanks for listening! Good luck to you all!
Hello! Here's my entry for the Pianoteq contest. I decided to have a little fun with my friend and include animation along with music. Even if we don't win anything, it was tons of fun to work on. Thanks for hosting this event.
Hello, here's my entry for the Pianoteq contest.
I did it at the last minute It's my own composition.
I rearranged 2 Chopin's preludes
https://youtu.be/gW_fUqonsrE
I composed the two pieces here, "Birchbark Canoe" and "Mirrors," found in the 7 book piano method "Piano Revealed." Mirrors is the final piece in the series. The colored keys come directly from Pianoteq's interface, which was overlaid on the video. This recording features Pianoteq's Steinway D.
Nathan - key overlays are nicely done, and I really like the tones of the Native American tune.

Thanks David, thought the key overlay might be interesting to experiment with.
Many thanks to all of you who participated! Now the jury will be busy for a couple of days...
I will post a link to the voting page when the 12 finalists are selected.
Here: (I suppose nobody missed it!)
