I composed this song today, inspired by the sound of Pianoteq 6 STD.

I used the YC5 preset whitout ANY MODIFICATION.

Recorded with my phone and OBS to grabbing Pianoteq's window.

Recorded, edited and uploaded just few minutes ago.

This song is titled "Una in più" in enghlish sounds like "one more...".

This music from this video clip that I composed, I interpreted and recorded it with Pianoteq 6 - K2 Studio recording BA.

I filmed with a Sony DSC-RX10 IV.

I did the editing (slow motion) with Adobe Première Pro.

Pianoteq 6 has me. From the moment I bought it, 5 months ago, I can't play with any other sampled piano VST. Especially when I discovered Chorus effects, Pianoteq is so alive and expressive, that it only can be compared with an acoustic grand piano. Satie's Gnossienne No 3 is one of my favorites, and I choosed it to participate for my first time to Pianoteq's contest 2020. Enjoy:

It's great to see a good number of entries appearing. I'm looking forward to spending a lazy afternoon viewing them when they're all gathered in.

My entry is inspired by horror film soundtracks of the 60s and 70s. It's my first serious attempt at multi-instrument mixing. All the sounds are from Pianoteq: Qexl's 'Hammer Horrors' Bechstein, a Frankenstein creation of my own (based on the Hohner Clavinet) and a 'straight' Steinway B. Both 'Hammer Horrors' and 'Frankenstein' were tuned to 1/4 comma meantone for an unsettling effect. Minimal extra processing was used: some delay for 'Frankenstein', a tiny bit of EQ on the Steinway, and some very light compression on the master.

I’ve always listen to ”Resurrection Band” or ”Rez Band” or ”Rez”. They have influenced my music and my life in many ways. It’s a bit difficult to do something from their music as a pianist, but this is an attempt on my part to do a tribute medley of their music. Hope you enjoy it!

2020 Pianoteq Competition

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my piece. This year I've again tried to push Pianoteq as a composing tool, rather than use it in its more conventional role as an amazing set of physically modeled pianos.

I also set myself the challenge of using a single piano preset (in this case, Grotrian Concert Royal) to create an instrument that sounds more like a percussion instrument than a piano. By tweaking many of the settings (reversed keyboard direction, phasing, delay, EQ, hammer hardness, etc.), I came up with the instrument I'm using here.

To create this piece, I started with a short piano improvisation, which I then subjected to various "insults," including inadvertent corruption (using a trial version of Melodyne), rhythm and scale quantization, and numerous other small changes (using Logic Pro X).

There are many tempo changes (which you can see in the video), and all the rhythmic variations in the piece emerge from the interaction of these tempo changes with Pianoteq's amazing Delay effect. I had to experiment for quite a few hours to find just those tempi that produced the rhythms I've used here. 

I've called the piece Latin Rollercoaster - I hope it's not too hard to figure out why. I hope you enjoy it, and good luck to all the other participants!

I wrote this song on September 11, 2001 to capture the essence of my emotions on that historic day, knowing it would be a piece that would bring me back to that day like a time machine if ever I felt the need to contemplate how I felt. The song remained only a rough sketch until now. Suddenly, almost two decades later, it found the right project and artist and is being produced with a male vocal as originally intended. This instrumental version highlights the piano accompaniment featuring PianoTeq 6’s Steinway D emulation. For this synth-pop ballad, a couple of virtual piano instruments could’ve worked, but I particularly loved how PianoTeq cut through the rich textures in this pop arrangement with a minimum of processing in the mix; just some slight EQ, optical compression, and reverb was added, in addition to the modifications done within the PianoTeq Steinway D Cinematic preset I used as a starting point.

The full lyrical version of this song is currently being produced and will be released soon (but on the artist’s channel).

Thanks to the Modartt team for the invitation! I would like to contribute my first post, a short improvisation with the Blüthner Model One, 'Home' preset, which I now put together for the video contest. I use Pianoteq as my main Piano for years now.

I play on a Kawai VPC1, default Pianoteq-Velocity-Curve. The movie was made with 'Clips' on an iPhone and Quicktime screen recording on the Mac mini (2012 Quad), which also runs Pianoteq. Assembled in iMovie, audio is directly from Pianoteq, no other editing.
