Topic: Do not hide bar in fullscreen mode

Hello everyone,

when I use the fullscreen function in Pianoteq the bar with File, Edit, Window, Help autohides. How can I stop this? (I want to close the fullscreen without a mouse and a keyboard. I have a touchscreen.) As operating system I use Lubuntu 19.10.

Thank you in advance

Re: Do not hide bar in fullscreen mode

I'm on a Mac while my menu bar remains visible in fullscreen mode.

Pianoteq 8 Studio Bundle, Pearl malletSTATION EM1, Roland (DRUM SOUND MODULE TD-30, HandSonic 10, AX-1), Akai EWI USB, Yamaha DIGITAL PIANO P-95, M-Audio STUDIOPHILE BX5, Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP.

Re: Do not hide bar in fullscreen mode

On a Mac, I have System Preferences and within the preferences an option to click, if I choose to “Automatically hide and show the menu bar.”  Which I may select among other options.

Perhaps on your operating system, you’ve a similar configuration.

In the linux version, this behavior seems to be hard-coded in Pianoteq, so you cannot stop it except by asking the Pianoteq team to add a configuration option for this. (And this would actually be a useful feature IMHO.)

With a mouse, if you move the pointer against the top of the screen, the menu bar will re-appear (however I notice an overlap with a system bar if your desktop is configured to always show that). Maybe you can mimick this pointing 'gesture' with the touchscreen?

A possible work-around is to configure your desktop to show a traditional task bar (panel), because you can then close Pianoteq from the context menu, and upon re-starting it it will no longer be in full-screen mode (of course it is not fully full-screen anymore anyways if you have a panel that is always foregrounded)...

I have seen that the bar appears again when the mouse moves to the top. Sadly it doesn't work with the touchscreen. My solution at the moment is the --restore-windows command line option. I hope that Pianoteq will add it in a future release...
