Via your linked thesis by Michèle Duguay, I was made more aware of how central to this topic Chopin is - I had always estimated that these ideas have been broadly and selectively applied (or overlooked) in the works of so many across the ages but Chopin's music is such an interesting focal point (lacking strict classical training, so am not aware how common or obvious it is to think about these things at present, esp with ubiquitous modern tuning).
