Topic: Christmas performances for music demos.

Well, I would like to do this inviting sugestion to the creative skilled pianists in this forum.

What about some piano performances of Christimas songs?

It will be fine to get pianoteq site with a couple of christmas performances in music demo section.

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

I don't have any Christmas songs to contribute but the topic is still a nice idea.  Maybe someone will sneak something in during the next few days.

Now, if I could compose then maybe I could write something over the next few days while the big winter storm rolls across the area with a chance of 12 inches (or say 30cm for the metric folk) from Wed night into Saturday.

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

I have a midi I recorded a few years ago, and just dug it up (should probably have been left in the grave).  However, because it's origins are from Provence (southeast France), in deference to our hosts, I will post it, pathetic as it is.

I have an orchestral version mp3 of this song at a much slower tempo which is excellent.  I believe that traditionally it is played quite quickly (faster than my rendition), so I fall somewhere in between.

Hope this nudges someone else to be brave (or stupid).

It's in the files area.

Apologies to Niclas - I don't know any Swedish carols.

Glenn

PS - some interesting background on the song:

By clicking on "Un Flambeau Jeanette Isabella" (Mark Leneker) in the second reference, the mp3 that I noted can be downloaded.

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Since I am not brave enough by myself, I thought I would bring along 39 of my friend singers and sing for you "Noël Nouvelet" (see Files area) a traditional French Christmas song, excerpt from my choir's christmas concert of 2008...

Joyeux Noël à tous!

Glenn, Gilles,  thank you for give sense to this topic  :-)

Very nice final result.

After all, it's about time to something different than Dingle bells.

Hans:

Very nice improvisation.

What piano is it?  Settings etc.  It has an absolutely delightful tone especially in the bass.

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Here's a little something for Christmas. A bit of seasonal jollity, written 2 days ago and (re)mixed this very Christmas morning:
http://users.telenet.be/deridderpiet.be...anoteq.mp3

Pianoteq was used for (1) the piano, (2) the harpsichord and (3) the marimba, and all the other instruments are either sampled or modeled as well.
There's 3 christmas tunes woven into the piece (and many of the other melodic fragments are derived from these tunes as well), although I'm not sure if the first one (as played by the muted trumpets and the guitar) is known very well outside Flanders and The Netherlands - it might well be a local traditional, I'm not sure. It's called "Hoe Leit Dit Kindeke" and, if anyone's interested, there's plenty of conventional versions to be found on YouTube. The two other tunes are certainly very familiar.

A very merry Christmas to all of you, and a happy music-soaked new year!

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Hello All,

Enclosed is an mp3 of something I did about 15 years ago, via midi, on an ancient Roland JV-1080 hardware sample player -- definitely pre-Pianoteq. I apologize ahead of time for posting a file not made with Pianoteq, and will delete it after New Year's Day.

http://www.forum-pianoteq.com/uploads.p...s%20JF.mp3

The sound is quite dated, compared to today's virtual samplers, but please remember this entire performance used less than 64MB (not GB) of sounds.  I had just acquired the JV-1080 and made up this arrangement to exploit as many of its sounds, simultaneously.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all,

Cheers,

Joe

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Thanks everyone for the very uplifting Christmas songs! I had a lot of fun listening to them and enjoyed them a lot.

this is good too!

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Very nice, and a bit exotic too.

Let's say that, by the feeling of this music, Santa is not alowed to drive in this condition.

Re: Christmas performances for music demos.

Yes, Piet's piece did have a slightly grotesque character!

I loved the voices in Joe's.

Greg.
