VI LABS MODERN D with Pianoteq 8 resonances : LOGIC11 or Reaper  : (I find the best Steinway is now Modern D and not anymore VSL D274)

Best of sampling with best of modeling :

In logic 11 :

Sounds lovely. Is it possible to incorporate your script in live performance software like MainStage or Gig Performer?

Hi,

I've just uploaded presets for Apple Mainstage :

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/a3e14zh4...7&dl=0

one for all pianos
one for Yamaha N1X and N3X for smarttouch releases emulation

and main link for all files :

Gig Performer has a built in midi filter to make a virtual instrument monophonic. You can also choose to use the lowest note or highest note when multiple notes are played. I haven’t been able to find that in MainStage yet. Do you know how to do that in MainStage? Do you have to use the Scripter?

Re: VI LABS MODERN D with Pianoteq 8 resonances : LOGIC11 or Reaper

Hi Olivier

I was wondering...
What if you try to use pianoteq ressonances with a very old piano sampler? Would pianoteq ressonances woks like "adding rockets to an old VW Beetle", turning the old libraries into very high quality VST intruments?

I believe NI Akoustik piano would be an nice test. It have an feature that was inovative for VST pianos back then, since it allowed creation of intermediary velocities between the 10 recored layers.
It have Steinway D, Bosendorfer 290, Bechstein 280, and an upright Steingraber.

They were an annoying mixed bag to my ears. Nice in places but once I realised what was irritating me I couldn't tune it out.
I found some of those to have baked in unpleasant resonances in the samples on some of the keys. No amount of EQ fixed it. No such issues with Pianoteq.

Re: VI LABS MODERN D with Pianoteq 8 resonances : LOGIC11 or Reaper

Well...The reviews at the time was quite positive:

https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech...iano-21984

I want to know if it's possible to add Modartt's living ressonances to the upright Steingraeber by using pianoteq upright Yamaha.
First need to bring Yamaha upright closer, set same unison adjust, same damper breaking point, similar hamer hardness distribution, bring each model's dynamics closer etc...

I always felt pianoteq needed a charming old upright like that.

Maybe at some point Modartt will do brand specific uprights to go with the grands?

I'm almost surprised they haven't started done that already. So much on their plates though. Maybe something to come in version nine or ten?

Re: VI LABS MODERN D with Pianoteq 8 resonances : LOGIC11 or Reaper

Why not try to use pianoteq Bosendorfer 280VC and PMI Bosendorfer 290 together, using pianoteq ressonances?

Would Modartt accept to create an special 280VC preset with extended keys, to match the 97 keys (extra bass) of Model 290?

That was just beautiful, Olivier.

:-)

I'm curious to hear your opinion about my idea of use a good Bosendorfer Imperial sampler combined with pianoteq Bosendorfer 280VC.
