Topic: Bach New Video Fugue n 5 in D Major, BWV 850 from WTC I by J.S.Bach

Dear Friend,

This is my new effort of my dream to record all of WTC I.
I hope you like it ! It is the Fugue n 5 in D Major, BWV 850 from WTC I by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Fugue (à 4) is a powerful, proud piece which, owing to the energetic demisemiquaver run of the theme, and the consistent and persistent dotting of the quaver assumes a special grandeur of its own, but which, transfigured by the bright open key of D.
I love this piece and I hope you like it too...

As usual, Pianoteq is excellent on my piano.

My actual setting is:

Played on Yamaha P125 piano stage                                          Video Recording Samsung galaxy A54.
VST: Hamburg Steinway D Pianoteq Stage 8.2.1

You are a good musician Carmelo -  and soon a very good artist…amazing! This is so very difficult to play.
And I think the fast sections can resemble a butterfly swinging quickly - a ”butterfly” fugue
What can I say , well done again - always!
Thank you Carmelo. (I’m looking every day if you have a new one). I’m so interested in Bach’s music too, have played many pieces with Organteq.

Best whishes,

Stig

P.S. Talking about ”… hands are getting older” - well, my fingers are a bit stiff, not good now.

Thank you very much Stig for your comment and for your support!
You're right, in this Fugue I also see a lot of butterfly movement in the fast parts; all on a rhythmic structure typical of the French overture.
I stubbornly continue to pursue this project of recording the entire WTC I with Pianoteq. Some pieces are harder, some easier but I will always do my best. I'm really happy you've enjoyed my videos.

Carmelo

P.S.

When I wrote that the hands get old I was referring to the fact that when I was young (when I was very trained) I was very fast at playing and learning pieces... Now my brain still flies but my fingers go slower I sometimes seem to play with gloves. This is felt more in Bach because I have in mind to play it practically without using a pedal, linking what is needed only with the fingers.
