I hope it's a CFX or C7!

I could see black keys on the left. Maybe it’s the 290 Imperial.
Difficult to find a match with a real piano model from the pictures in the video. Some similarities with a CFX but not completely, I don't think for Fazioli or a new Bosendorfer, Some similarities with kawai. Or Maybe a K3... Or a surprise... A good piano I'm sure....

The inside of the piano and the dampers are those of a Shigaru Kawai.
You're right ... A the tenth second of the video we can see a piece of logo up left of screen...
It seems to be that one https://shigerukawai.com/models/

The frame doesn’t look to be one of the Shigeru-Kawai (not the same profile, at least according to SK website).
It’s not Fazioli F278/308, neither CFX version 2022.
Bösendorfer Imperial 290 ? Impossible, not the “broken” shape of the rim.
Wonder if this time someone will leak the secret before the right time.

I disagree . I even found the images from Kawai that are used by Modartt in the teaser.
1) Here is Kawai Teaser on Instagram :

2) I took snapshot of the piano board with dampers from Modartt video and Kawai advert on the SK-EX
Here is the comparison

3) I took snapshot of the picture from Modartt Teaser and From Kawai teaser. Not hotly the shape are rigourisly identical , moreover the photo is taken from the same source, same floor material, same lighting

pensez vous que la sortie d'un nouveau piano puisse être associée à la version 9 ?
Excuse me, you are right.
I was misled by a picture on shigerukawai website where the cast iron edges seemed more « rounded » (maybe an earlier model)
So, congrats for the identification !

I'm guessing it's probably the last new modern piano in version 8.

.
No worries . This teaser makes me think that they will announce the new Kawai piano and that in 2025 they will announce V9 . Pianoteq aficionados have a very high expectations with major releases even though I think the most radical changes were with minor releases 7.5 and 8.2 . But for sure the teaser for v9 has to be special and not look that another piano coming our way . That being said I am really happy that they release a Kawai SK -EX . This is one my favourite sounds in acoustic . I personally find the CFX too bright , the Steinways too neutral , the Bosendorfer too much resonant in the low register . But that ‘s really a personal opinion and everyone has a different taste which a good thing. Music would be boring if everyone was liking the same instrument and buying the same acoustic or sane virtual instrument.
After watch the Earth Piano video I think this will not be a very huge competitor to Modartt, since Earth Piano sounds more like a sampler than a vivid expressive true modelled piano.
But it may help as a nice incentive to Modart keep very tighty and mighty on constant refining and improving pianoteq engine.
I wonder if Earth Piano uses Roland Lx and GP series engine. Does anybody knows???
Also wonder if is possible Earth Piano be fully modelled, but giving way more preference to compute the basic note by note tone than the true complex interactions between piano elements that give true vividness to the piano sound.
I feel that in Modartt 's technology things are far more connected, like following the laws of physics.
It's probably not just like compute the note tone and drawing some algorytms to emulate ressonances and sympathetic effects (like probably Earth Piano do) over the note tone created. We can presume pianoteq modelling details how the elements will generate the piano notes tone and how the interaction between the elements will generate the ressonance and sympathetic effects. That's why it fells alive, even if the basic note tone it's note perfect yet.
On 7 of June modartt announced "...a New piano... Coming soon..." 5 days later the Bosendorfer was available...
On 30 of October modartt announced "...very soon on modartt...".
Is the "very soon" shorter than the "soon" ? I hope... Sunday ? Monday ?
Is Ultraman and Ultraseven stronger than Superman???
After all, ultra is suposed to come next to Super, like giga comes next to mega.

Well... not if Mr Clayderman is performing this composition:

It certainly looks like the Kawai. I just upgraded to the new Kawai CA 701 so I have theSK-EX Competition Grand and some other Kawai pianos, which are beautiful, and I'll skip this one. Maybe we'll get a Fazioli someday soon!

Hi Barbara,
I suggest holding the judgement until after it arrives, maybe you will still feel this way as you have plenty of modern piano sounds, but you may want to compare the playability of both versions first. Maybe both will be nice but in different ways, I expect Modartt's take on it will sound significantly different enough, and feel more alive to the touch.

Yes Barbara,
You can always try the demo version before committing to purchase. Worth it just incase you like Pianoteq's Kawai too!
Warmest regards,
Chris
I'm sure many of you guys feel the same, I'm so looking forward to the release of the Shigeru Kawai. A number of years back I was listening to a video of a pianist playing a Shigeru Kawai in the context of a piano competition. As I listened to him play, it seemed that this pianist was in command of an orchestra under his fingers. Really. It was amazing experience for me and the potential of owning my very own Shigeru Kawai reminded me of it.
As an aside, I once listened to a pianist play in a side chapel in Lincoln cathedral (UK). As I listened it was as if the music was dancing above the grand piano, such were the harmonies. This too was an amazing experience.
Maybe others here who have had different experiences would be willing to share them? Just a thought.
Thank you to all the Modartt team, the Beta testers, the forum posters, and all the Pianoteq (and of course, Organteq) family/ies. It has been an incredible journey and I am so grateful to you all.
Warmest regards,
Chris

Good points. I'm the kind of person who likes to have it all so I'll probably get it. Very small investment.

sound better than the first.
Attack is good.
280 was an improvement but still some trebles that sound like a vibraphone.
Sure This Shigeru will be even better than their Steinway's and 280VC.
And i love Shigeru Kawai : the Steinway Sound with the power of an Bosendorfer.
Regards,
Olivier F.
Wouldn't it be nice if we got an evolution of the K piano from Modartt some time?
Perhaps even a K pack?
A bigger K model in a pack?
Did you remamber a circus number where a skilled guy spin a dozen of plates, each one spinning over a stick, and have to keep all plates spinning at same time, otherwise the plates lose speed and fell to the ground and broke?
I'm afraid Modartt is reaching the limit number of plates they can spin together. They hane so many instruments that it get difficult to upgrade all to reach the quality of the latest most advanced instrument.
But this is not necessarilly a bad thing!!!!
This means they are fast in create and improve, always getting better and better.
But they will need to decide what instruments will be upgraded or at least how often some older instruments will be upgraded.
They are a bunch of very skilled talented smartasses, but their hands are not so fast as their... @ss.
Háaa háaa háaa...

I hope it is the Fazioli.
Judging from the video, it is something out of Japan.
The red sun on the white sky is hard to ignore.
Whatever it is, it sounds nice.

With the waving cat previously and the red circle on white it's obviously going to be based on one of the two top of the range Japanese titans - or inspired by them.
It does seem most likely to be the Shigeru Kawai, surprisingly.
I wouldn't mind something "heavily inspired by" though.
Official licences are good for sales almost certainly - If it sounds really good I'm in!
It’s out !
