Topic: stay tuned

Does anyone have any idea as to what the "stay tuned" segment in the latest modartt newsletter may refer?

Hello Edchamberlain,

It means that more information is coming, and if you pay attention you will hear about it, so stay tuned -  don’t tune out.  (might be an update of a kind or information about a new piano or discount or……well, it means that more information is coming,,,   oops! I already said that

Best wishes,

Stig

Re: stay tuned

Pianoteq 9 ?

Re: stay tuned

But what tunning they mean? 440Hz or 436Hz? How I can "stay tuned" when I don't know the tunning!? I am not playing with you guys...

This might be. Facts from https://www.modartt.com/pianoteq_changes

Pianoteq 8 was released in November 2022, 2 years after Pianoteq 7 had been released.
Pianoteq 7 was released in November 2020, 3 years after Pianoteq 6 had been released.
Pianoteq 6 was released in September 2017, 3 years after Pianoteq 5 had been released.
Pianoteq 5 was released in May (ehm) 2014, 2 years after Pianoteq 4 had been released.
Pianoteq 4 was released in April (ehm) 2012, 3 years after Pianoteq 3 had been released.
Pianoteq 3 was released in February    2009, 2 years after Pianoteq 2 had been released.
Pianoteq 2 was released in March 2007

My speculation based on the above facts are:

- the release cycle has been switched from releasing a major update during spring into releasing during fall
- the release cycle has a major release every 2 years if they can, 3 years if they encounter a showstopper

Since we are in November 2024, Pianoteq 9 may be coming soon (stay tuned) and that would make three times in a row that the release happens like that!

Yeah, good point! Maybe with a Japanese piano since Yamaha finally caved in and gave the "Authorized by Bösendorfer" stamp, so it might give the "Authorized by Yamaha" for a CFX

It's possible that a new piano only is coming, but my personal opinion is that a new instrument could benefit from an update to the modeling engine, so the latter should come first. However history proves me wrong on that since on version 5 (and to a lesser degree version 6) new instruments were being released towards the end of the "life" of the version, so that's not completely impossible

Where do I find a list of all posts I upvoted? :(

You already have the right tuning, you can stay safe and tuned, because you get their news letter. You don't have to tune in to another ”radio station”.
Don't worry, the surprise is surely close.

Best wishes,

Stig

I would love to have a new version, even more realistic and with CFX and C7 instrument packs.

and me a beautiful double bass, and as it's almost Christmas a cello

Re: stay tuned

I have had the feeling that it is difficult for Modartt to get along with certain manufacturers, for example Yamaha and Fazioli. Otherwise we probably would have had a Fazioli a long time ago.   But still, a Fazioli is on my wish list, second place a Yamaha or Kawai. I have played on Kawai and, as an amateur, it sounded good.

Best wishes,

Stig

The cynic in me tells me the release date was moved to November just for that reason...

Re: stay tuned

for black friday?

in my opinion this is not a good idea, the release of version 9 would be drowned out by the multitude of offers which are flooding the market at that time

Re: stay tuned

I'm doubting a new major version is about to be released since they only recently released the 280vc. I imagine they would have delayed that for version 9 - if it was so near?

That said if they do perhaps that could have been a taster for a second Bos 290 to be added in the same pack, and a separate CFX  (and another big Yam) to replace the YC5?

Perhaps it's going to be a new way of tuning the models. Lots more tuning capabilities perhaps?

Maybe Modartt has developed it's own auto tuner. That would be fantastic wouldn't it! This would solve the need to keep tuning Pianoteq

Warmest regards

Chris

Hello everyone, they have already developed its own auto tuner - Pianoteq never gets out of tune, it's locked    For example, my version 5 sounds exactly the same today as it did then, although I have rambled very hard on it.  Pianoteq never goes out of tune. Fantastic! (unless you do it out of tune yourself of course, which can be fun sometimes)

Best wishes,

Stig

That cat..

Here is a pleasant piano piece by the same name. Reminds me of Vangelis's China - influenced by the wider region I suppose.
