Topic: Upgrade Logic project to Organteq 2 VST

I upgraded Organteq to v2 having created some Logic projects using the old Organteq v1 plugin as a DAW.

I have also migrated to a new Mac, which has never had the Organteq v1 plugin installed.

On loading the old Logic projects, I find the plugin broken, as of course the plugin version is a critical part of the selection.

If I manually select the v2 plugin, all appears to work on the surface, but all the settings for Organteq are lost, so I don't have the same console mappings nor the same registrations any more.

Is there some way to restore the settings, or at least see what they were? Or possibly to install the v1 plugin so I can review before manually upgrading?

Re: Upgrade Logic project to Organteq 2 VST

OTQ v1 and v2 are sufficiently different that it would make some sense that a DAW couldn't match up prior settings--especially if there were a lot of customizations in a project.

That said, you can go to modartt.com > User Area > Downloads > "Previous versions are still available, in case you encounter any problem with the latest version, click here."

That should give you access to at least one installer prior to 2.0 (1.6.5 loads in my user area--for PTQ I have the last minor version for each major branch back through the 6.X branch--don't know if it goes back further or not for others).  Then you should be able to have two versions of OTQ installed and point your old project to the new install of the old version.  Let us know if you have any problems.

Not sure about the DAW plugins since I don't use a DAW, but the standalone versions, for both Organteq and Pianoteq, you can have as many versions as you want side-by-side.

Where do I find a list of all posts I upvoted? :(

I'm not 100% sure on minor versions, but I know DAWs can have multiple major versions of PTQ and OTQ, I've got PTQ 6-8 and OTQ 1&2 installed on the same computer and all my DAWs and VST hosts detect them.  I've never tried with something like 8.0.1 and 8.2.0 on the same machine as those usually get overwritten, but it's possible that you could be that granular.  (You might need to force extra copies of the VST DLL by renaming and possibly also manually managing the host file pointer--perhaps at install time, as I know that it names it in the format "Organteq 2.dll" in shared VST directories.)
