Topic: Asking for Recomandation and advice about Active monitors

Hello dear users of the forum.
I would like please to ask for your advice.
I’m using Pianoteq with much love.
I’m searching for Active monitors which the Pianoteq will sound good through.
I will NOT use them for any sound-design proposes.
The use will be playing the piano, practicing, composing and listening to music.

I’m in a semi-treated acoustic room.
My gear is Kawa VPC1 and RME 400 Soundcard.

My budget is around 700 Euro (780 Dollars) for a pair.

I will highly appreciate to hear your advice and experience.

Thanks in advance,
Ofer

Re: Asking for Recomandation and advice about Active monitors

I have had a lot of monitors, but my two favorite are the JBL 308P MkII and the Yamaha HS8.  I think the JBL is better for casual listening.  In both cases, each brand has a subwoofer that pairs very well.  I don't use the woofer to "get more bass", but to get "clarity" from the monitors by offloading anything under 50hz to the sub.  I keep the sub volume as low as possible just to hear the slight "thump" I need.  I find that this allows the monitors to work optimally.  The JBL monitor and sub combo should fit into your budget, depending on what country you buy from.
