Topic: Bosendorfer pedal volume

Does anyone know if Bosendorfer pedals are quieter than other brands in real life? The pedal noise in the new Pianoteq Bosendorfer model is a lot quieter than the other brands with the same pedal noise volume level in the settings (0 dB).

I'm using the 'stock' preset with just the name of the piano for comparison.

Thanks!

Edit: It might also be that there is no pedal 'thunk' noise, just the noise of the strings releasing. I'm out of the house now so can't double check but I'd be grateful if someone could check my theories!

Confirmed. Using just the stock presets with the name of the piano, doing a fast press down on the damper pedal, the sound from the Bösendorfer is much less than any of the other pianos I have (Steinway Ds, Steinway B, Bechstein, Petrofs, Blüthner, YC5 [used Basic]). The other pianos do differ from one to another, but they all have a lot more sound than the Bösendorfer. As best I can tell, when I turn the volume on the Bösendorfer way up, it is the “same” sound, just much less of it.

I have no idea about acoustic Bösendorfers (or any of the others, for that matter).

Thanks for checking. I have emailed support to let them know.

Personally, I prefer this much more.
For me, this is perfect how it is on the new Bösendorfer.
I don’t like to hear the ‘thunk’ pedal noise to loud. So on other pianos, I set pedal noise volume on -9dB. But then I loose the strings noise, which is a pity.

I wish Modartt revised their pedal noises for all models to match the one of this new Bösendorfer.

Or they should split the control of thunk noise appart from the one of strings noise, to make everyone happy.
