Topic: African Flower (Pianoteq)

here's one of the great tunes by the Duke, "African Flower."  usually it's played in a more contemplative style.  but when i have to play in Ebminor usually this kind of thing comes out.

here you can see the master himself do it

That's a great piece! Never heard it before. Did you record that live in one take? The tone is also great, which piano/setting?

This music captures the loss of something …..beautiful.
Very nice. I like your interpretation. Duke would be pleased.
And this piece and interpretation clearly struck a chord with me, impress me, feeling sympathy. With those cascading sequences.

And the ending, same comment as in Ana Maria - you are thinking of how to end. Nice!!

And, as someone once said, "a masterpiece of simplicity and grandeur”
Thank you again, budo

Best wishes,

Stig

thank you!  yes i did record it in one take, but after having played through it many times.  it took a while for this version to evolve.  i'm not sure which piano i used, unfortunately, but i think it might have been one of the Steingrabers.  there are others on here who have such great ears they can tell right away ... i will see if i can figure it out.

thank you so much for your comments.  i don't know if i agree about how Duke might have felt ... perhaps he would have been horrified

there is another version by Gary Burton (that's where the chart is taken from ... it differs from what Duke plays in various places) that's more rock-ish, if i recall correctly ...
