Topic: Why I bought Pianoteq

I just bought Pianoteq - and here's why.

I have several piano programs, including a few from Native Instruments.

BUT, Native Instruments has lately reduced the customizability of its products.  For example, in Kontakt 6 and prior versions, I could modify a great many of the parameters on its instruments (using the "wrench" icon/button).  In Kontakt 7, the ability to do this was removed.

The main thing I liked to modify was the ADSR - most especially and almost exclusively is the Release.  I can't do that anymore with Kontakt 7 and above.

So, I downloaded the Pianoteq trial version - and voila - I could alter the sustain pedal, making the sustain shorter or longer as I desired!  This was almost exactly what I had been modifying in my Native Instruments.  And, there were other parameters I could modify to suit the moods I wanted from the piano, especially in the release/sustain portions of the sounds.

That - along with the quality piano sounds - sold me, and I am a happy purchaser!

Re: Why I bought Pianoteq

Good decision.
Standard and Pro were always light years ahead of Kontakt in terms of adjustability for piano sounds.

I do like to use Kontakt for other instruments though. Two very capable stalwarts of the plugin instruments industry.

Welcome to the family!

Although I am not a professional fortune teller, I predict that you will enjoy many happy years with Pianoteq.

Pro tip: When in doubt, choose Steinway D.

Yes, welcome to the Pianoteq family,

Warmest regards,

Chris

Re: Why I bought Pianoteq

I use Pianoteq exclusively because it runs natively on Linux.

Pianoteq Pro 7.x - Kubuntu Linux 19.10 - Plasma Desktop - Hamburg Steinway

Re: Why I bought Pianoteq

Nothing comes close to the control you have with Pianoteq, it’s a piano based sound design tool kit that even lets you push beyond reality.

Cobbling together Frankenpianos with Morph and applying synth-like modulation with the Note Effects, along with the sensible stuff like mic selection and placement and component tweaking offer unparalleled freedom.

You can make yourself a new piano every day.

I work with synths that have deep and powerful sound engines but Pianoteq sits alongside them feeling just as mouldable …pretty amazing!

So did I.
