Topic: Half pedal with SL73 Studio keyboard controller

I discovered half pedaling on my V3 Sound Grand Piano XXL, plugging my Roland DP-10 direct into that sound module. Now I'm trying to get this working with Pianoteq. My controller, the StudioLogic SL73, has a damper input, and Pianoteq says it sees it as an on-off pedal. I have also other inputs for the pedal, universal, continuous and switch, but I get no response from Pianoteq when I try to calibrate using these inputs. My DP-10 pedal has a switch on it, settings continuous and switch and it's on continuous.
Anyone any idea how I can get this half pedaling working?

Re: Half pedal with SL73 Studio keyboard controller

These won't feel like piano foot pedals but you could add a usb expression pedal adaptor or two. These connect to your computer. I use one with an expression pedal, and one of the expression pedal inputs which two of my keyboards have ( different options here, nothing fancy).
You can map those USB input pedals to anything you like including half pedalling. Choose midi cc and so on.

The custom software/firmware curves to operate with your pedals can make them more playable.

Maybe you can find proper piano style pedal sets too.

An expression pedal will not feel the same, I agree.

with the software that comes with the adapter , you can configur any type of pedal , expression, sustain , continuous or switch on/off .  Doremidi also provides such adapters . It works really well

Yes, I'm happy with the calibrated expression pedals though I could try different pedals.

Custom curves really help. I find curves for foot pedals and breath controllers absolutely essential, yet curiously I cannot improve upon the Casio CDP velocity curve over out of the box setting, that is save for some occasional custom curves for individual presets.

Your SL73 keyboard is very similar to my SL88 Grand (apart from the number of keys and the action).
The only fully compatible triple pedal is the Studiologic SLP 3D.

I bought one five years ago and thought it would work with the SL990 Pro I had at the time. But it didn't.
I recently bought the SL88 Grand, and my triple pedal has finally found its place (after a lot of work setting it up...).
I plugged it into jack No. 4 (universal) and the three pedals are well recognised in Pianoteq and Reaper, with half-pedalling for the third one (sustain).

Re: Half pedal with SL73 Studio keyboard controller

Check the pedal settings within your keyboard/piano. Pedal needs to be set to continuous
