Topic: Sustain pedal issue w. 8.0

At random intervals, whenever I'm using the sustain pedal, I will experience sustained notes after I release the pedal. By depressing the pedal again, the issue stops. Any idea on what is making this occur?

I have not personally experienced this.

This could possibly be stuck MIDI problem, a USB port issue or even a mechanical issue with a temperamental pedal switch. Some sustain pedals can be switched between a standard pressure on and release switch (called a momentary switch) or a click to switch on then click again to switch off function pedal, like a power button.

There is also the high end midi sustain pedals which have variable response. Most of us have to make do with the on off momentary switch type.
I wouldn't expect any of that type of pedal to have that on off switch ability like a light switch.

I have experienced that with the kawai FP30 pedal quite a few times . Using it on different Kwai keyboards would produce the same issue . Given what you describe , it’s presumably an issue with your pedal ( dirt , or mechanical defect ) which I assume is not designed  with optical sensors .

Re: Sustain pedal issue w. 8.0

I have often had problems with sustain pedals and have bought quite few.  Many look solid on the outside but inside is a cheap plastic switch that wears out quickly.   To debug pedals or any midi problem open the Options->Midi panel on Pianoteq and then you can see what midi signals are actually getting to Pianoteq.  Most likely you'll see your pedal is not sending reliable signals which is why the sustain gets stuck on or off.   If so your options are disassemble the pedal to check if there is something interfering with the switch, or just buy I a new pedal, if you dare.

I'd suggest entering your keyboard's settings, and then verifying that your pedal setting is set to "continuous" (assuming you have a continuous, not switch, pedal)
Afterwards, it might be a good idea to go through the calibration settings again in Pianoteq.
If this doesn't help I'd suggest going to YouTube and finding out how to open up your pedal and cleaning/checking the mechanisms inside. Lint, maxed out springs, broken plastic, etc can all cause issues like this. If the issue is only happening in Pianoteq, then cleaning is probably not the issue.
