Topic: Rachmaninov Prelude in B Minor, Op 32 No 10 (PianoTeq)

Rachmaninov's dark and brooding prelude in B minor, from 13 Preludes Op 32.

https://youtu.be/U_Kegc8-xrM

This prelude is known to have been inspired by Arnold Böcklin's painting "Die Heimkehr". Rachmaninov's "muscular", chordal style of writing for the piano is very much in evidence in the work, and he uses the lower registers of the instrument to spectacular effect at both dynamic extremes. This prelude is one of the more introspective, contemplative preludes in the set, and of all the preludes, Rachmaninov declared that this was his favourite one.

As always, thank you for listening and I hope you will enjoy the piece !

This is a gorgeous piece! Great work!
And the slow intro that transitions dramatically into a tempestuous middle section, strong and turbulent - wow!
Thank you 1MuddyDog for the excellent performance of Rachmaninov.

And - the silence at about 4,36 is so amazing!

Best wishes,

Stig

Hey Budo

Thanks for your kind comment. It really is a great work by Rachmaninov, very daunting to play! I was very surprised by how the PianoTeq model responded to the low notes - I did not expect them to turn out the way they did so I was very nicely surprised by that!

Thanks again for listening, glad you enjoyed the piece !
