Topic: Microtuning precision

What is the accuracy of the tuning in Pianoteq when microtuned using the VST2 Detune parameter? 1 cent? 0.5 cents? 0.1 cents?

I don't know which plugin you are using so can't answer the specific question...

What I can say, upon observation is this:

  1. Instruments have a detune graph under options and this is accurate to 1 cent

  2. The Advanced Tuning setting is accurate to 0.1 cents

  3. PianoTeq will respond to MTS-ESP by ODDSOUNDS and this is accurate to 0.01 cents

I hope that is useful ?

Re: Microtuning precision

Again, not sure what you mean by VST2 Detune (I assume that's the PTQ STD/PRO Detune window that's controllable by VST), but I do know that the Scala files that PTQ supports are only limited by 32-bit values and can express tuning relationships in rational instead of float formats.  While I don't know if PTQ ignores rational decimals after a certain, arbitrary precision (or if being 64-bit does anything to increase scala tuning precision), if you want maximal precision, the scala format is your best option.
