I'm so curious about the pricing model. It can't be as simple as with the other operating systems, as Apple wouldn't allow that?

One price for all I believe from the way the feature set for Pianoteq 8 was promoted. After all it's not going to be limited in any way - it's just going to be the same version, just another format of compatibility.
There's not going to be a cut down cut price limited version.
You buy it it to work on all formats on Apple iPad and Mac OSX and Windows PC and Linux. So anyone who has Pianoteq get that straight away.

i really hope you're right but good luck with that

"iOS app
Soon iOS app
The long awaited app for Apple iOS is in progress and will be compatible with Pianoteq 8. No compromise has been taken, the same software will be delivered"
That is the page where it seems to be being promised as part of 8 when it's done as part of 8s feature set upgrade over it's predecessor I will suggest. I could be wrong.

i could be wrong too - i hope i am - but every vst that i have seen that has an ios version (and other non-Apple software for that matter) charges separately for the ios app and says something like: 'we have no choice - it is the way the ios app store is set up'. i would love to see modartt work it differently, but i don't see anything in what you've quoted that gives me hope

When Steinberg ported Dorico to iOS, they explained why models like this aren't possible with iOS. Apple wouldn't allow that in their store.
I've never seen an app, which I could download for free as a demo - and then activate it with a license code.
But maybe there is a solution for it now. I hope that...

Martin
Surely they can just make it a free download for Pianoteq existing customers?
Perhaps by selling it at the same price on the Apple store but giving a unique individual 100% discount code to all Pianoteq existing customers?
If however Pianoteq gets a cheaper price as an iOS app yet works exactly the same with the same quality Pianoteq customers will feel utterly ripped off.

maybe. but modartt is far from the first company to have this problem, and I'm not aware of any that have been able to get around charging for apps on the app store. happy to be shown to be wrong

thanks for that - great to know
Looks like media/industry reviewers will get access to the app in about a week.
So maybe two weeks until it’s released?
