Topic: Is there a key shortcut for muting/unmuting PTQ?

I often want to have it running, just to remember my MIDI output, whilst I play using my onboard piano sounds.

And I find having to mess with the volume slider annoying.

Do we have a key shortcut to mute/unmute? I looked in the help but couldn't see anything obvious.

Thanks

I’m not aware of a way to mute Pianoteq directly.

You may already know this, but you could map something like an expression pedal to the volume slider, or if you’re open to running Pianoteq from inside a DAW, you can set up a hot key or (MIDI CC) to mute the track.

Yes, I just want a simple keyboard hotkey. If it doesn't have it, it would be nice for them to add it. More specifically to toggle the mute, so it goes from:

non zero volume=> to zero, and zero=>old volume

Re: Is there a key shortcut for muting/unmuting PTQ?

Good idea Fancellu..

2 existing ways to mute/stop audio are..

Alt + D - keyboard shortcut (this disconnects audio device - non-optimal for your mention of MIDI, in that you can't keep MIDI data moving with this shortcut). Repeating Alt D reinstates audio.

Or the more typical, or preferable way added recently..

A mouse click on the main green animated volume bar to mute and un-mute. (works like expected, and MIDI input still registers whilst sound is nulled)

Definitely would like to be able to map a keyboard shortcut for that.

Pianoteq Studio Bundle (Pro plus all instruments)  - Kawai MP11 digital piano - Yamaha HS8 monitors

I didn't know about the mouse click, thanks, but yes, would be nice to expose this via keyb

The lack of a MUTE button that can be mapped to a MIDI switch is a GLARING problem with PTQ when playing live.
Yes, I can (and do) map the volume slider to a MIDI slider on my keyboard. But when this is touched, it changes the source volume! Booo.
I load up several VSTi's into a Reaper track. I then really want to set the volumes and never touch that. But I do need to select among the instruments I want to use. I DON'T want to touch those volume sliders - but that is all I have and it really really sucks.
PLEASE give me a MIDI assignable mute button. That should be required of all VSTi's.
PTQ does have a little blue check box in the upper right corner. That mutes (or turns off) the sound - BUT, it is not assignable to a MIDI switch! Why not? That would fix this. Some us us use PTQ to play live. I need to be able to switch among VSTi's without touching the source volumes.

Re: Is there a key shortcut for muting/unmuting PTQ?

I just discovered that that "little checkmark" in the upper right corner is part of Reaper's FX interface. Further, I discovered that there is a tab in that panel called "Params" - and under THAT tab, it turns out that many things are MIDI settable - including that little check mark. Well, that little checkmark is the Enable/Disable for the selected effect. THAT is a very good way to mute an effect (in this case, a VSTi). So, when not selected that VSTi is not even enabled - that is quite good.

Sometimes, Reaper can be frustrating - but ultimately it is also quite astounding in how well-tailored it is to actual use. It is because it is a community-guided product.

I apologize for bringing up something that had a solution. I just didn't know my DAW well enough.

Modaart - please go after Swam Saxophone V3 ($250). While I don't need a pipe organ, I would buy a sax. Well, maybe, I'll just buy Swam. But I do like the Modaart interface.

Thanks fror your responses.      -Pat
