Upon playing an imported midi, the sustain pedal holds continuously for the whole piece, despite having pedal markings in the midi score.

You might want to attach the midi file, and also tell people what keyboard and pedal you are using
Make sure that your midi mapping is correct for the pedal. When you play the midi you can see the midi events listed, so maybe
you can see it reacting wrongly?

I'm not using a keyboard. I'm importing a .MID file
