Topic: She's Leaving Home - Beatles (Lennon-McCartney) - Piano Etude
My classical pianist partner embarked on an ambitious project of creating a series of piano etudes after Abbey Road and other works by The Beatles. This is the first track we uploaded to her new youtube channel. She's playing a Yamaha Silent upright (fully acoustic + digital/MIDI) through Pianoteq 7.5.4, which sounds infinitely better than the built in Yamaha sound module (and acoustically the piano badly needs a tune and service).
The preset is Bluethner Chamber Recording BA with some tweaks: extra sympathetic resonance, reduced pedal & key release noises, and a virtual repair of a faulty key. The physical piano has one key whose velocity output is too low due to a mechanical flaw (velocity is about 70% compared with other keys), which is where the Note Edit feature of Pianoteq Pro comes in super handy: matched the key's response to the rest by increasing the volume and mezzo + forte hammer hardness just for that one key. Not as good as it would if Note Edit included velocity (perhaps that feature could be added in a future release?) but pretty close.
If you're a Beatles/McCartney fan, I hope you like this unique arrangement (in a video I shot in Edinburgh and Budapest):
