Topic: One more fan! And a suggestion.

I've been trying the trial version of Pianoteq for some years now, and although being impressed by the playability I wasn't convinced by the sound vs my favorite sampled libraries. BUT this version 8 is starting a whole new chapter (IMHO) for piano modelling and I bought it right away. Congrats to the team, it's impressive what you guys have achieved.

I'm not a great piano player, I use it more as a "producer/songwriter" kind of thing. My perception is that Pianoteq userbase is more hardcore piano players who value playability above all, but now producers can also be enticed by the sound quality and tweakable settings. As far as I know, people do share presets on this forum, but I think there's great potential to grow in this area. The guitar world has been sharing and selling user presets (like Line 6 Helix, kemper, Amplitube ToneNET) for some years now. I've been exploring the "FXP Corner" but I find it very hard to explore and find sounds. I think there's potential here, such as searching for a sound from an artist. Like "Elton John - Tiny Dancer", or "John Lennon Imagine", "Tom Waits Martha" or classic players such as "Vladimir Horowitz". I think even if Modartt would make such presets they would sell! I'm I alone on this?

I very much agree with you that artist or composer pianos would be a great selling point - I've thought that for a long time. For instance, there's already a Steinway B, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to make it sound like Grieg's piano at Troldhaugen. And there are so many possibilities to model classic studio recordings with the mic settings.

This would very much fit my needs too.
Because so far i failed badly whenever i tried to recreate a certain piano sound.
Perhaps because i don't have so much time to spend on this endeavour.
I'm more into learning / playing.

In between, perhaps Modartt could add search or filter criteria for the FXP corner like Genre, Style, Composer, Artist etc ...

Sampled pianos have the ability to have a "baked in" sound, for better and for worse. They can be sampled with a professional recording chain (great mics, preamps, outboard gear, tape, etc). As far as I understand, Pianoteq is more like a "raw"/direct sound from a piano, and we do need to take that in consideration when mixing. Although Pianoteq now have options, such as mic placement, eq, compression, etc. so it might be possible.
I don't think we need the sounds to be "exactly" like when it's fully mixed, but in the ballpark would be more than enough.
One of the best examples I can find is from Teletone Audio. Altough it's a sampled piano, the different "presets" are great and achieved with post processing (as far as I know). I do have this library, but it's very heavy on resources, and playability's not very good (specially when compared to Pianoteq).
