Topic: Any solutions for controller stands that are easy to put away?

Hey there, I'm curious if anyone else has this problem: I want my new midi controller to be easy to access when I get inspired and want to quickly play it, but also leaving it on a dedicated stationary stand isn't really a great option either because of the space it takes up. Any creative alternatives? Like something that slides or folds out of a wall. Also don't want my cat to walk / sleep on it which I'm sure he will (he also scratches up everything). So I need a safe way to stow away the keyboard while not in use. Something hopefully that's not a whole production every time I just want to play for, say 30-40 minutes at a time.

The ones you have been considering are very heavy.  Kind of a tall order.

Thanks. I found a spot I can fit it in permanently after reorganizing some furniture. But I still need to figure out a way for my cat to not rip it up. Even a soft carrying case won't be enough to protect my investment, I'm afraid the worst will happen. So I guess I gotta figure out a hard shell or canopy of some kind.

So glad. I do think a permanent set up is ideal. The ones designed specifically for the instrument won't really take up extra room, allow use of the triple pedal, and are so much more stable. If you are getting a top of the line keyboard, you need/deserve a proper foundation to get what you are hoping for. I hope you can find a solution for your cat challenge! There must be a way. Ask the store where you are buying it. They know what's available. Fingers crossed!

After writing that earlier, I thought of something that might work. You might want to get a heavy, padded cloth, like what movers use to protect furniture being moved, to drape over the keyboard and stand. That would protect the stand from being scratched up, as well as the keyboard. It might even be possible to have it tailored to fit over the keyboard and stand, or get a strap or bungee cord to hold the draped padding in place. If you had this, it wouldn't be too much work to take it off or put it back on, and your cat couldn't pull it off. It sounds as though you have a very athletic cat!

We actually have a padded cover like this for the grand piano in the clubhouse where I live.
