Topic: Bad harpsichord sounds in Pianoteq 8

For me Pianoteq 8 does not work, because with my laptop harpsichord sounds have become totally different from what they were in Pianoteq 7 and I would not even recognize them being harpsichords anymore. It is the same with Ruckers, Blanchet and Grimaldi harpsichords. I use ASIO4ALL. I still have both Pianoteq 7 and 8 installed - with 7 everything still works great and obviously I am using it instead of 8.

Re: Bad harpsichord sounds in Pianoteq 8

One user stated the pianos sounded weird after the upgrade, just to discover the morphing feature was switched on by accident.

Make sure to turn off the freeze button before changing the instrument and check if you got any extreme effects like fuzz going.

"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

Re: Bad harpsichord sounds in Pianoteq 8

Thanks, I checked, but accidental morphing seems not to be the problem. Many instruments sound great in Pianoteq 8 but for my laptop something is now "missing" from the harpsichord sounds.

Did you check the settings?

Sample Rate, Polyphony?

Re: Bad harpsichord sounds in Pianoteq 8

OK problem solved!

I compared my settings in Pianoteq 7 and 8, and in Pianoteq 8 internal sample rate was set too low. After I put there the same value than I have in Pianoteq 7, my harpsichords seem to sound just perfect also in Pianoteq 8.

So thank you very much for your advice!

You gave me a freight as I've got the Ruckers but didn't have a chance to try after the upgrade. Glad that your problem was sorted
