Having to navigate to the folder myself from within Finder (or another operating system's file manager) is a big distraction when all I want to do is grab a fleeting idea as quickly as possible and then get back to whatever I was supposed to be doing when I stumbled on whatever it was that I wanted to take note of.
The ability to quickly rename MIDI recordings would be really useful. It would help me to know which recording is which, and which, of the thousands in my MIDI recordings folder, are ones I want to save. It would also give me a place to put information about how the recording was made and should be played back: which instrument model was used, which tuning, etc.
The automatic MIDI recording that PTQ has is really great. For long time I thought it was the best possible, but now I agree with you: it can be easily made much greater!!
I think this whole idea is fantastic. PTQ should include as much metadata as possible (PTQ version, instrument used, change to default, etc) and allow user to add more information such as filename (as the title of the thread indicates), additional annotations one want, who was playing etc.
Of course Modartt should design the best way to do that in the most backward and forward compatible way. An inconvenient but doable approach would be to use sidecar files like image software do, but I'd rather want them to include the info in the MIDI file itself. Perhaps some of these things can be already included in the current SMF standard (see https://www.midi.org/specifications-old...-files-smf )
Or we can hope that (and PTQ could join the association and lobby for) SMF v2.0 providing everything that one would ever want to include https://www.midi.org/midi/forum/7958-mi...d-midi-2-0 -- this is the perfect time for that!!
Hope the next version of PTQ will include at least the most basic of these things!
Where do I find a list of all posts I upvoted? :(
