Topic: Classical Romantic sound for a lieder

Hello, I want to record a piece of music, like german lieder, and I wish the piano to have that kind of timbre:

I searched all over the presets in Pianoteq, but I am pulled into so many that I can't really decide.

Thank you in advance

Re: Classical Romantic sound for a lieder

This piano sound in the recording sound like a good vintage sound. Heavy and profound with a good woody tone & ressonance

I believe the vintage grands of pianoteq can reach such characteristic, this "good old classic days" feeling, after some tweeking.

If you install the demo version you will be able to test all instrumemt, including the Kremsegg collection.

The Bechstein 1899 it's young enough to be considered a modern piano, but old enough to have a good vintage charming sound.

Re: Classical Romantic sound for a lieder

I do adore to "own" dozens of Pianos and Grand Pianos - which makes the choice of the "right" one not really easier ;-)

In your case I would vote for a Steinway 1912 - which is not directly available as a preset in Pianoteq...
My personal opinion: The sound of a "modern" Steinway, slightly less profound and not too bright to put himself in the foreground.

Re: Classical Romantic sound for a lieder

That's the sort of sound I'm always trying to achieve in Pianoteq. I think the closest you might get is with the Steinway B, using the Condition slider to add some character (not too much - you want 'vintage' rather than 'honky tonk').

You might be able to hear the first minute of the song below, go to the site and hit the red play button(when you see a popup, just close it).
