Topic: Yamaha P-515 & PianoTeq: latency issues?

I went to check out the new Kawai ES120 today, and was chatting with one of the salesman who got me to try the Yamaha P-515.  It's much pricier, of course, but it seems nicer than the Kawai and the Roland FP30x I was looking at.

I was looking into how it works with PianoTeq and came across this thread -- https://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads...rface.html -- where someone said they were having huge latency issues trying to connect the Yamaha to PianoTeq.

Has anyone else noticed this?  Is this something common to Yamaha, including the cheaper models (P-125, for instance)?

It gives me cause for pause.

BTW, if you have a Yamaha P-515, how do you like it?  Pros/cons?

You've seen quite comprehensive replies to the latency issues, on Pianoworld.  I can't understand why you're asking here.

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

I posted here before I posted there, and just thought -- since I was asking about PianoTeq specifically -- this would be a good venue to ask.  But of course you are right, the other forum answered my question.

Hi Prelude,

I have a Yamaha P515 in white. I love it. I've had it for a few years now and love the build quality. It has a very positive feel to the keys. The escapement simulation is not as pronounced as on the Roland digital pianos.

Hope this helps. Any more questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Warmest regards,

Chris

p.s. I've had no latency issues.

Re: Yamaha P-515 & PianoTeq: latency issues?

Have had any success with your Yamaha latency issue?  Can you share?
I've only just read your post trying to solve MY problem with the latency in Yamaha CLP-745, but no luck, still a big issue with latency in this piano with PianoTeq 8

There shouldn't be latency issues when connecting the P515 to Pianoteq. At least I've never had any latency issues as stated. What equipment are you using? How are you connecting your piano to the computer? It is most probably a driver issue people are experiencing. Or settings within Pianoteq.

I have used various was to connect my P515 to my 8th generation i7 computer (HP). No latency problems with any option.

I currently use an ESI MidiMate Ex cable.

Let us know what you are using and your settings within Pianoteq. We'll try to help.

Warmest regards,

Chris
