Topic: Is it possible...
Is it possible to find out what all the FXP settings are in the customized Pianoteq demos? Some of them are so beautiful and it would be great to be able to use them.

I don't know if anyone volunteered any of these for the FXP corner?
The tracks do say which presets they used, they don't volunteer how those presets were customised though.
Maybe this should inspire you to experiment with those particular presets?

Hi Barbara,
I think it would be hard to get all the fxp settings in the customized Ptq demos.
But, you are right, many of the demos are really beautiful. Is there a particular demo you have in mind? It is maybe not impossible to get one fxp.
Which one do you like the most? Maybe it happens to be the same one I like

Stig

The demos with other accompanying instruments possibly even have global reverb, and other effects such as global EQ and compression used within a DAW.

Thanks, Stig and Key Fumbler,
I'm most interested in "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," which is a demo for the Celeste. I think it's layered, with a gradation in the midrange where it shifts from the K1 (since replaced by K2) to the Celeste in the treble.
The level of customization in that piece is beyond me right now, but it's a piece I want to learn to play. I have a different arrangement, but it's similar... just simpler.

Hi Barbara,
I think you must have missed my earlier post (in a different thread) about that demo recording of Sugar Plum Fairy. That arrangement has been multi-tracked - either from 2 people playing 2 separate keyboards, or the same person in more than one take. The K1 is playing the 'orchestra' part, and has been set at a lower level than the celesta, so it sounds in the background.

I did miss that. Thank you for letting me know. Saves me from fruitless efforts to do the impossible. As much as I love the demos, and find them inspiring, I wish there were more that played them "straight" using only the presets, so we'd know what we mere mortals can expect!

Be fair, Pianoteq has a playable demo mode where you can use all of the instruments and settings.
Also most of the instrument audio demonstrations are fairly vanilla.
The electric piano demos could be better in that specific regard - not that they are poor demos, just that full virtual band setting shouldn't be required to show them off, or hide perceived shortcomings.

I wasn't aware that there's a playable demo mode. Is that the availability of all instruments as demos, or something else? The availability of demos for all instruments is beyond generous.
I love the demos, and have spent hours listening to them for inspiration and as a sort of concert. They certainly led me to upgrade to the Studio Edition, and I have no regrets.
Just a wish list item.

I mean the usual synthesizer demo mode. You get to play the instruments. You get a hands-on experience of Pianoteq, with just a few of the keys disabled.
So prospective customers get to download full Pianoteq, play with a few instruments keys disabled and assess the plugin.
This is normal with synthesizers of which Pianoteq is one, albeit highly specialist.

Once I started writing, I realized that was probably what you meant. Yes, it's very generous.

"I wish there were more that played them "straight" using only the presets, so we'd know what we mere mortals can expect!"
Here is my quick simple demo with celeste and piano, "playing it straight using only the preset". It is the demo version so some notes may have been lost. I could have set a lower level on the piano. Well, I couldn't resist trying, just for fun, nothing for Spotify

Stig,
I love this! You did a wonderful job! Could you describe how you did it? I want to learn to play this for my sister's 4-year old granddaughter, and would love to try to use your customization. Thanks so much if this request is something that wouldn't be too hard to describe.

This is how i did it. I used my daw Garageband in Mac Mini late -14. First recorded left hand on track one.Petrof Mistral Classical recording, then right hand on track two, Celeste orignal preset. Listened to both at the same time and could have turned down the volume on the piano a bit. Exported as mp.3 and uploaded to shared files
Can't answer your question about fxp yet. I'm thinking about it. I have two keyboards but couldn't play both at the same time with different sound on them…..which I need to do if playing it live without a daw….
I have played the piece with piano sound but no celeste. But the higher notes sound a bit like kind of celeste…if you play it as such for your sister's 4-year old granddaughter…

Best wishes,

Thank you, Stig. Yes, the high treble does sound fairly close to the celeste, and 4-year-old Serena is not really sophisticated enough to tell the difference. She likes to dance around the room to the music, and can do so regardless of what instrument I select. I may also try it on the C. Bechstein, which has a beautiful, sparkling high treble. I really appreciate the creativity you put into this, and it has inspired me. Play on!
