Topic: Pianoteq 7 + Renoise (Linux) - can't find VST

Like the topic says.... other VST hosts are able to find Pianoteq 7, and Renoise is able to find other VST plugins, so i have no idea which is bugging out. I have to use the LV2 from CarlaRack VST because Renoise doesn't (yet) support LV2.

Part of Renoise's output:

Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Instantiating '/usr/lib/vst3/Pianoteq 7.vst3'...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Creating pipes...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Launching plugin server process...
Renoise LOG> System: Executing '/usr/renoise/rns_332_linux_x86_64/Resources/AudioPluginServer_x86_64 400118 /tmp/Renoise-0-400118/PipeMemory-52 RNS_PipeTrigger-400118-52 RNS_PipeWait-400118-52 /tmp/Renoise-0-400118/PipeMemory-53 RNS_PipeTrigger-400118-53 RNS_PipeWait-400118-53'
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Connecting to the server...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Creating server thread...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Creating plugin instance in the server...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Releasing '/usr/lib/vst3/Pianoteq 7.vst3'...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Stopping server thread...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Shutting down server process...
Renoise LOG> RemoteAudioPlugin: Disconnecting pipes...

The .so included in the pianoteq archive under "Pianoteq 7/x86-64bit" seems to be a valid VST2 plugin even though it's a symlink to the one in the lv2 directory. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Pianoteq 7 + Renoise (Linux) - can't find VST

Delt,

Try to install Reaper for linux and appoint the Pianoteq directory in Reaper just to check if Reaper can read the pianoteq.so as a plugin. If reaper can read and renoise can not you can try to install LinVST in you linux mint and read the plugin direct without need to go through Carla.

Best wishes

Re: Pianoteq 7 + Renoise (Linux) - can't find VST

Thanks for your reply Beco. Reaper, Carla, and other plugin hosts are able to load the Pianoteq 7 VST without any problem. Only Renoise has a problem with it. I also tried downloading the microsuck version, extracting the "dll" file and using it with "linvst.so" but this doesn't work either - Renoise scans it, but it doesn't show up in the plugin list. I suspect it would require an additional "activation slot" or license even if it did work, so it would really not be the ideal solution.

Relevant section in Renoise's terminal output, after removing all the plugin-cache files and leaving only VST2 plugins enabled:

Re: Pianoteq 7 + Renoise (Linux) - can't find VST

The VST-plugin runs without problems in Renoise. Create a .vst folder in your home directory and copy Pianoteq_7.so out Pianoteq 7.lv2 into \home\myhome\.vst folder.
