Topic: Trying All the Pianos
I thought I'd start with C1 - a legacy piano which has charm - tell me what you think?
I thought I'd start with C1 - a legacy piano which has charm - tell me what you think?
Moving on to M3, also a legacy piano which has great depth - don't you agree?
Still on M3 - this time a Pin-Tacked version by KPRausch.. I love it!
..moving on to Dv4v (forerunner to Steinway pianos I believe - though I don't know what the other two [C and M were preceding?)
..still with Dv4v but a little experiment...
Taking the EQ curve that made the M3 into a Pin-Tacked Piano I inverted it on the Dv4v to get an "in-yer-face" piano effect. This software has so much to offer and I'm only scratching the surface.
Hi DEZ!
Interesting to hear these different piano sounds. But I think you have the settings a little bit wrong, number 2 and 3 are panned to the left and number 4 and 5 are panned to the right, It bothers little bit that the sound comes as only in one ear (It is heard most in number 3).
Anyway, keep them coming. Waiting for the sound of the latest pianos for to compare with the oldest. Thanks for doing this.
Best wishes,

Hi Stig,
Yes you're right the piano does sound off centre. I'm still finding my feet with the microphone placements and balance. But the funny thing is, if you look at the visual of the sound file it looks not too bad, but the ears say something different...
Still I had a go at shifting the mics around...
For those of you who don't know... the Yamaha EL-900 has a keyboard that will transmit pitchbend from the keyboard when moved from side to side. They call it horizontal touch. I noticed that the clavichord can respond to this and bend the note just like a real one, so I'm excited to try it out.

It has to be noted that the EL-900 is not my first choice when trying to play keyboard instruments as its touch is extremely light. Perhaps it's good practice for me to learn a different touch especially for these early instruments.
Using the EL-900 to play the W1..
The EL-900 also has what they call initial velocity on the pedals.
The W1 will respond to pitch bend so like the clavichord above there's some wacky stuff going on here...
Still having fun with the W1...
