Topic: Bowed Instruments

Hi there,

I've never seen a bowed virtual instrument that we can fully control. We have many options for the sampled bowed instrument, but we are always bound to the recordings. I wonder if it's possible to simulate bowed vibraphone, marimba, tubular bells, and xylophone.

I've run an experiment on the vibraphone, and the result was not bad, but it still has a lot of attacks for a bowed instrument.

How can I make the instrument swell?

Re: Bowed Instruments

A trick that can transform Pianoteq instruments into infinite sustain instruments with a slow attack is to use those two things:
- attack envelope parameter (in note-edit), in order to remove the attack of the sound.
- hammer bounce, with vel sensitivity, delay loss and velocity loss all set to zero

When the attack is long enough, and the bounce delay is small enough, all repeated notes blend into another quite nicely.
