Topic: Petrof Mistral Classical Recording - Do you hear what I hear?

Hi,
So far I've been using mostly the "basic" "binaural" and "player" presets of the grand pianos which I find beautiful. I am currently testing some "recording" presets (the Bechstein ones sound particularly good) but I have a problem with the "classical recording" preset of the Petrof Mistal, particularly audible around the G2 A2. Like a second sound a fraction of a second after the base note. I thought about delay or reverb, but it seems to be due to the microphones. Do you hear the same thing?
It sound bizarre to me...
Thank you

Merci

Hello/Bonjour,

I think the parameter that provocks this effect is the Pre-delay of the Reverb. If you set it to 0, this "second sound" will disappear.

Merci.

Thank you for your answer, it works indeed. Was this value of the pre-delay parameter voluntarily high in this case (with the sound consequence heard) or will it be corrected during an update? I don't master the reverb parameters and I'm trying to understand its effects. Thank you.

The pre-delay triggers a sort of sound repetition, it should be handled with caution because it will produce phase shifts that modifies the note frequency content. A better way to handle this problem may be to change the quantity of the reverb with the "Mix" slider. We "accepted" this defect in Pianoteq because "Recording" presets mimick the context of a real recording sessions where the sound engineer also has to live with the quirks of the instrument. We try not to make many note to note adjustments for these presets.

Hoping it clears out your questions!
