Topic: Hooverville (Pianoteq)

here's another improvisation from a more modern Broadway tune, this time Hooverville from Annie.  this song is not very well known outside of diehard musical theatre fans, but again for embarrassing personal reasons i'm very familiar with it . for this one i was really trying to do something different, like really reinvent it.  so it definitely doesn't sound like the original.  i was trying to channel James Booker.  it could also be done as a Brazilian tune, like a bossa nova or a samba.  it's a surprisingly flexible tune.

There are some music-hall, latin and some rock with your version. Nice !

Yeah, this nice and punchy with a fresh pulsing approach.

Thanks!  Nicely done.  I must admit that I haven't thought of this song in years.

Brought to mind this line from the play as well:  "I want you to scrub that score[+/-], until it shines like the top of the Chrysler building!"

(score/floor...must be my New York accent.  :-)   )

Re: Hooverville (Pianoteq)

budo,
I feel in your playing, that like with piece Maybe, you are very familiar with this piece too. Sounds so fresh. Love those calm sections where your flow is so wonderful (0,53-1,30  2,23-2,56  5,06-5,30) These are all like as a steady stream of water in a small river!   I wanted to dive into it, and it felt like being me inside the flow when listening  It was amazing, fantastically enjoyable

I think, for once, I got everything summed up briefly and powerfully this time.

Thank you budo !

Best wishes,

Stig

thank you as always for your wonderful comments!  i also like the switch from minor to major that the tune does.  of course in the original they do something else with it
