Topic: For Good (Pianoteq)

here's another improvisation on more recent broadway material, this time For Good from the musical Wicked.  i really like this song, again for personal reasons best not discussed   i didn't try to do anything radical with it, pretty much just played the tune straight through.

here's the original cast recording (it has a little introduction that i skipped).  what i'm playing begins around 0:40.

Re: For Good (Pianoteq)

Wow - Song in Db. This has always been difficult for me, for some reason.
But, you did a nice job - Db is beautiful. (Although this key was relatively unexplored during the Baroque).

”…didn’t try to do anything radical with it, pretty much just played the tune straight through.”   -  Well, I do not really agree

There are several good interesting sections for me as an alert listener, trying to give support and understanding to you as a very good player

Something going on from about 1,24   next happening from about 2,30   and the nice final part/ending from about 3,10.

budo, I have to say, in every piece you play, there is a very nice impressive thing - the flow. Sections come together so smoothly, whatever you play. Going from fast and suddenly to slow, but you always keep the flow in your music.   I love that!

Thank you budo,

Yes, Db has a great colour. I agree with Stig about the flow. Very well played. One more...

thank you very much for listening so carefully and for your comments.  i really appreciate your remarks about the "flow." Db is indeed a great key.  it was a favorite of Art Tatum, i think because of the way it felt to his hand.  i've never heard anyone else play a Db major scale as fast as him!  also musical theatre songs are often in fairly "out there" keys, i have no idea why.  for instance i've seen many tunes in F# major and Ab minor.
