Topic: Pazzacaglia for Piano - Harrington

New traditional piano composition, Pazzacaglia for Piano:

https://soundcloud.com/jeff_harrington/...al_sharing

A set of variations on a voice-leading pattern, more of a passacaglia than a variations movement.
Using the Steinway B Gentle piano.

Any comments welcome.  This piece will not bite!  Score available shortly...

very cool piece.  it gets really intense at the end ... it might actually bite me if i tried to play it!  also i followed some of the links through soundcloud and heard the hyperpiano piece ... that was very cool.  we definitely need an expert to make an fxp of that beast.  how did you ever get that recorded?  and i saw that you have tons of stuff on imslp, will be checking that out ...

Thanks, budo!  This is the third barbaric-ish piano piece I've wriiten since we moved back to the states!

I got the Hyperpiano soundfont from Bill Sethares thru FB back in 2016?? I think?

Yea! I'd really like to see a Pianoteq model of their hyperpiano:

Re: Pazzacaglia for Piano - Harrington

Nice piece!

For me, the piano sound needs a bit more presence.  I think it's mainly about resonance: some combination of sustain pedal and reverb.  Especially for the high register, the direct sound from the strings is only a small part of what we hear, and getting the right reverb settings can make quite a difference.

Thanks, hanysz! Much appreciated.

Thanks for the sound advice;
I'm still learning.  And I want more piano presence. Any specific fxp's to try?

Yes, cool piece !

Why not with the wide preset (maybe with some tweaks) ?
