Topic: Blue Monk (Pianoteq)

another real book track, this time not by the Beatles   Blue Monk by Thelonious Monk, one of the most popular charts in the book.

Well done, thank you budo for sharing!

If you are interested by one of Monk's solos transcription, here is the one from my favorite version:

Re: Blue Monk (Pianoteq)

Great playing budo! Amazing improvisation, can not ask for better. And you make me find and like pieces that I wouldn't have listened to otherwise. Thanks!

How many years will I need to play like this if I start tomorrow?   Wondering if the life time I have left is enough - 1 year, 2 year, 5 year ?

And nice that Philippe too is in this ”sub-forum”.

Best wishes,

Stig

thank you very much for listening, i really appreciate it.  that is indeed a great version of this tune.  i hadn't heard it before.  i'm much more familiar with his stuff on Riverside and Blue Note, and somehow skipped his stuff on Prestige.  i really should check those records out, his performance here is really fascinating.

and of course i have to say thank you for pioneering this awesome software.  if someone had told me 25 years ago that it would be possible to model a piano on my mediocre laptop with such realism i would have thought there were crazy. really looking forward to the future!

thank you, i really appreciate it.  regarding playing and time, all i know is the Chinese proverb about "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”  that's how i think about all the things i wish i had done in the past   now if only i would actually follow the proverb and do them today ...

What a great improvisation, budo.  Outstanding!

I love good bop, and you've embodied it.
