Topic: Interesting study on people who like or dislike pianoteq's sound

There is speculation that there is a correlation between hearing Laurel and liking PTQ, hearing Yanny and disliking it, or being "in between" on what word to hear and being "in between" liking and disliking it. Talking only about the sound, regardless of all the other awesome features of the software, such as memory footprint, ability to change things to one's taste, price, etc.

Re: Interesting study on people who like or dislike pianoteq's sound

Man use to better hear lower frequencies, and women tends to better hear higher frequencies. While both genders age, this difference tends to became even more pronounced. There are speculation this increase chances of divorce, as one would not hear each other well any longer, as their voice's basic frequency are oposed (male with deeper voice and female with higher pitch).

If pianoteq lovers likes higher frequencies, maybe they are better husbands. One more positive point to pianoteq anyway. :-)

It would be nice study women preferences for pianoteq and samplers, but women are a minority among web forums related to technology. Funny, a month ago or so I was wondering how to bring more women to pianoteq forum.

I heard YANNY,  and I honestly can't imagine how someone can hear LAUREL.

Imply all the men are single professionals, over 6ft 3", chisel jawed, with good hair and earning well over 200k per annum minimum?

Misogynistic humour aside women tend to be less into the nerdy tech side. Just Google women using forums. Apparently women in general don't frequent most types of forums, and I don't believe this is anything to do with oppression or misogyny whatsoever - they aren't frightened out of those places, they just don't appeal in the first place. For that matter this forum isn't exactly a hotbed of masculinity. Piano playing is pretty gender neutral.

Apparently only 2 or 3% of mixing engineers are female too.

Like or dislike Pianoteq sound?

Well, this is what I have learned:

Different types of sound, modelled / sampled, give different effects on our emotions, what we like or dislike - it is also about our experience of music and what we have experienced in connection with the music.
For example, it seems that trained musicians and amateurs listen to sounds in different ways. And a lot of what the brain does is automated, such as driving a car. Automation means that no new functions are formed - it does not stimulate the brain very much. You have to give the brain new challenges all the time because then new synapses are formed and then you keep the brain active - so, listen more to Pianoteq     it’s probably a new challenge for some people.

Our brain is like a muscle that constantly needs exercise to be healthy. This also applies to music / sound and therefore it is good to also adopt new and different sounds - listen to Pianoteq

Certain differences that may exist between men's and women's brains may control different aspects of certain behaviors, reactions, type like/dislike Pianoteq, because men and women are biologically different. For example, I can not give birth to a child….
Well that's what I have learned and think about it

Best wishes,

Stig
