Topic: Acoustic piano and Pianoteq: the best of both worlds on stage (part 2)

part 2: Pianoteq playback + synthesizer

recap: I had the unusual pleasure of playing a concert in which I used both a Steinway D and Pianoteq.

Here is an excerpt in which I solo on synth over a Pianoteq recording titled "sombre". The piece was originally recorded as an improvisation for my album
"la falaise" using  a modified Bechstein DG Prelude preset. I am using a Mac mini playing a 24-bit, 48KHz audio file  through a MOTU M4 interface, then going to a  little Mackie mixer, hooked up by XLR directly to the FOH mixer. The stage speakers are  4 QSC 8" and a QSC subwoofer.

Artful and indeed crafty, Antoine.

Good to see you at work on the stage.

Really love the way you weave synth within the piano piece. So cool.

Hoping for many such concerts - congratulations!

Many thanks.

Only the best pianists remove their shoes after they've entered the stage.

I knew somebody was going to jump on that! Truth is, I was wearing the nice but stiff shoes I reserve for special occasions. Unfortunately, the pedal feel was almost non-existent. After a half dozen tunes, I decided what the hell, I'm taking them off. Luckily, I was wearing some funky socks

NP aWc - proud of you!

Re the shoes hehe (thanks for giggle Chopin87!).. Hey, but you did leave your hat on

BTW, when Ros performed her interpretation of your "Étude Chromatique", I felt that seeing your shoes there was so charming - very endearing.
