I'm getting sentimental (inspired by budo) - Ptq U4 a la Monk

Just trying. I have played Bach, Nutcracker, Boogie, Rag time…..but not ”budo music”. Inspired by budo, this was only a test. A bit own arr.

Playing first the piece (slowly as Monk) and then my impro.
Probably you think it’s too much from the theme but it’s there, and coming back several times… Maybe not so successful, but could not resist the temptation to try.
You may like it (or not) but it was how I felt when improvising ex tempore

Best,

Stig

first, thank you very much for your kind words about being inspired by me.  i really appreciate it.

now for the recording ... wow, this is a really great job!  i think you're on to something here.  i thought the presentation of the melody at the beginning was very tasteful and emotional.  the improvisation was great too.  yes you get far away from the melody at times but that is a feature not a bug. at all times i felt like the melody was still there influencing what you were playing, and to me that's always important.  so i think this is a great first try and i hope you will do more performances like this!
