Re: New Pianoteq Album (part 6)

it's so fascinating to listen to your music and express my thoughts as words

Alien
Thinking of a hypothetical or fictional being from another world, whos spaceship has crashed.

In the mist
Of course the early morning mist that was clearing to reveal a glorious day

The Ice Palace
It’s the castle-like structure made of ice, frozen water. Thinking of the icepalace we have in the north of my country(Finland)

Winter Wind
I think of the cold winter wind here in Finland and our bridge over a water, it always blows incredibly cold in that place, the bridge is called the Siberian simulator

Peg Leg Jack
Maybe the leg was amputated because of gunshot wounds, suffered during a bank robbery.

Mystic Winds
Thoughts goes to someone who practices mysticism.

II was reading all this ”Information about the piano methodI” and read your thoughts ”…….what if Tchaikovsky, who wrote music for children with as much sensitivity and beauty as he did when composing symphonies, what if he had written an extensive piano method, starting with music for the absolute beginner? It would have been incredible!”     - Maybe so but luckily he did not do it, so you could do it. Amazing!  Incredible!
I really hope people understand what an innovative fantastic job you have done. I’m impressed with you for accomplishing this. Can’t find a compliment big enough. Your music is for me kind of a new open door to a new kind of music.

Take care and best wishes,

Stig

Re: New Pianoteq Album (part 6)

Thanks once again Stig for taking the time to listen and record your thoughts on these pieces. Always great to hear what goes through your mind while listening!

The person "who practices mysticism" would be Scriabin in this case. I wanted to include a piece that captured a little of his spirit since his music is so important to the piano. Of course his music, especially his later music, tends to be far too difficult for beginners and intermediate students, so it was a real challenge to compose something that would sound even a little bit Scriabin-esque that an intermediate student could handle. Mystic Winds uses the "mystic scale"--based on Scriabin's "Prometheus chord." It's essentially the "acoustic scale," but without the 5th scale degree (so a 6 note scale).

I love your descriptions of Finland by the way!
