Topic: Pianoteq 5 vs 7 - Update cost, CPU usage?

Hello everyone, it's been a while since i posted here!

I've been using Pianoteq 5 for the past few years and am very happy with it. However if version 7 has even more to offer, i'd be very happy to update. I would like to know what is the cost to update from version 5 (standard) to 7, and how the CPU usage compares between the two versions, let's say for a decent but relatively basic sound.

Thanks again!

The price for the upgrade is only $39.00.  I don't remember what the CPU usage was on version 5. Maybe someone else can help you on that.  I have been using on a Envy AMD 2700U CPU and version 7 has been working fine.

Hello delt,

I have both vers. 5 and v. 7 in my computer but I never use 5.  7 is amazing: Standard and pro: layering, morphing (can create instruments that have never existed), felt presets in every contemporary pianos, refined physical model (allows more complex tones), New York Steinway D, Petrof Mistral …and…and..……well, check website and demos…..
I have an 2,6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, mac mini late 2014. And for the ”basic sound” an Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, no one has complained about the sound ( it’s better than from the computer).
I read somewhere that by restricting the internal sample rate in the options menu, you can work with less powerful CPU’s.

Best,

Stig

It's very simple to find out. You can just do a free trial with pianoteq version 7.4 demo, and feel by yourself if your CPU holds V7.4 well or if need to reduce polyphony settings adjust, compared to V5.

I had trouble at times with PTq 5.3 on my old HDD 1.8GHz until I adjusted some settings.
I can now use any settings I want on PTq 7.3 on my SDD 1.1 Asus laptop with impunity.
It'll be the best £39 you'll ever spend!

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

Oh... what kind of trouble? Are you using windows? Using 5.8.3 here on GNU/Linux without any problems.

The old indows Vista laptop was at it's limit. and version 5.3  was max for it. The new devices, seemingly with a lesser spec, seem a lot more agile and handle PTq 7 easily enough.  Windows 10 now, of course..
